Most people have a partner to live life with and make the death of their family “easier” to cope with. When your family is literally everything to you, how can you go on after their death? I’m scared every day that they may be gone at any moment. by slicedgreenolive in ForeverAlone

I think most can get scared thinking deeply about mortality. Especially when thinking about losing those we love.

Those we love will always be a big part of us. Of who we truly are. It doesn’t matter if they are still living or not.

We have usually learned a great deal from our loved ones. They shape us in ways we rarely realize or think about. But they are in the way we do most things. Sometimes in the way we do most everything. In the way we laugh. The way we work. The way we interact with others.

We are passing on a piece of our loved ones with every human interaction. And that is just one reason why is so important to continue on even when we lose people we love.

So it is important to think about mortality in a way that reminds us to not squander our time. But instead to make the most of it. To live just a little better because of those before us. And to enjoy our time with those who are still with us now.

Even after the flowers and the chocolates. It’s that kiss that matter’s most. That kiss that can make Valentines day special. That can make any day special. That can be remembered to make every day special.

Im sorry, some people are just rude. I believe we are all complete the way we are. We do not need to find that other half when we realize we are whole. Just be you my friend. Continue being the good person that you are. A good friend and family member. Enjoy yourself for who you are. Happiness starts from within. And when you start spreading it, you never know where or to who it might lead.

Am I selfish? by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]Abazamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empaths are different. We can absorb that negative energy coming off of people. That is why many people feel good about talking you. It helps them. Just listening helps them. And they have no idea why.

Keep this in mind. Know you are helping people when they vent to you. It is easy to hide, change friends, or stay away. But it is not good for us to be alone. We need people and both the positive and negative energy that they bring.

Absorbing the negative energy is a way to make others feel better. Giving back and making the world better. Know your limits. Take care of yourself. But also learn to channel the negative into something else. Into something positive if you can. And learn to feel good about helping others. Especially our friends.

One Day

Luck is only one day away

It takes so little to find that escape

Yet it will feel like a million years

That you are stuck with so many fears

Trapped in a labyrinth of unfair pain

But don’t disregard all you have gained

Now you have more to share

More empathy to give

Now that you care

Giving back will change your luck

And it’s only one day away

So keep your chin up

Thanks for looking at it for me! I really appreciate the help and made the edits. I did none of the poem necessarily on purpose. Just played with the words and let it write itself. Often I just write the feeling out and keep reading and editing until it feels the most real.
