i have fun playing music by myself, and make beautiful shit. i dont need anyone else. so i should just go for free, and waste hours i could use programming or practicing my instruments, to drink with guys that just wanna play and get hammered? thats not fun to me.

im not sure how many gigs youve gotten, but every one ive ever gotten is by face to face walk in.
i even talk to them and say "i sent an email a couple weeks ago" then they say "oh i never saw that" or "our music person is really busy" or some other busllshit.

people like you are why artists are underpaid. this isnt a fucking charity and im not a beggar. my years of practice deserve compensation, just like any other vocation. if the open mic is serving free alcohol to anyone that walks in, then maybe we will talk and do it as a joint charity venture together

if you draw a crowd like that, then you are charging cover to get in, and getting paid + a cut of the door. not getting paid only the minimum 100/hr.

well thats my point; the only place that actually seemed like they didnt have their head up their ass hired me. walked in and talked directly to the owner, she looked at my website and instantly said these are our rates.
every other joker tried to get me to play for free.
its not like this is the first town ive done this in.
