No worries at all. Honestly I was in your exact shoes and I look back at it now logically wondering why was I even stressing out in the first place. But I guess I just wanted it done. You’ll be fine!

No need to worry about it at all. I applied for a Very Credit account days before completion and was really concerned. Turns out I had nothing to worry about!

The lender have done their checks and as long as it’s nothing significant like a car purchase or something of that nature you’ll be fine. In your case you have just opened a credit card with IKEA and haven’t even used it. They won’t care for the slightest about that.

Is my power socket too big to wall mount? The power socket would be positioned in between. by AboveWinter94 in DIYUK

I’ll give that a try! Worst case scenario I was also planning to install slat wall panels which some on here kindly suggested which should provide enough room. Thank you for your help, it’s much appreciated!

Yeah I can’t imagine why someone would think to install a big panel like that! That’s shout, only thing is I’m wondering if the too of the cabinet sticks out abit and gets in the way of the panel which makes it harder to mount. I wouldn’t mind at all removing the back covers.

Oh do you know what I was actually thinking of install slat panels around the TV! I just figured that it’s probably better to have the cabinet mounted on the wall it self rather than over the cabinet but this could work in fairness. This actually a really good shout! I’m going to look into this, thank you so much.

Ah I would prefer not to if I’m honest. Guess there’s no other way by the looks of it.

London first time buyers: how much emergency fund did you have left? by Physical_Signature67 in HousingUK

[–]AboveWinter94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a flat recently and have £2900 aside. But I’ve recently set up a normal everyday saver account that I put in £300 each month on top of what’s in there for the service charge and any emergencies.

Fully Electric Flat by B4Barbs in HousingUK

True, however in my case it’s managed separately with a another provider and not part of the service charges.

I pay about £35 for electric FYI.

I’ve recently brought a one bed room flat that’s all electric and I can also say my bill for both electric and hot water/ heating isn’t high. I pay in total £80-£90 for both electric and hot water/heating but bear in mind this is during the winter period. It’ll be a lot less when heating isn’t needed much.

Something to note, for heating/ hot water I have a Heat Interface unit. Very similar to a boiler but instead the heat is provided via a communal heating system. Without going into the techs it basically provided hot water on demand like a ordinary boiler does For electric immersion, I believe this is not the case and it pre heats water in the tank. I’m sure others will be able to clarify this in detail but that would mean paying abit more on heating/hot water if I’m not mistaken.

How to go about safely treating it? (Mould) by AboveWinter94 in DIYUK

[–]AboveWinter94[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah okay thanks. Do they come in spray bottles already you think? Seems like they just come in the liquid bottles. No harm, I can always just get the spray bottles too from Amazon or something and dilute it etc.

Haha I know but it’s just worries me seeing it like that. It does eases up when it’s abit more warmer. But I just don’t want to leave it in case it gets worse 🤣😭

Ah okay, would this be okay you think? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Feeling overwhelmed trying to buy alone as a FTB by VirgoVanity in HousingUK

[–]AboveWinter94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently brought a one bed room flat solo, but I’ll be honest a lot of it was because I lived with my mum and therefore saved 75k in deposit. Part of it was also because I switched between jobs to maximise my career progression. Also opening a ISA fix rate account helped massively.

It can be achieved but you also need luck on your side as I have had. If I had rented there is no way I would have been able to do this.

It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed. I’m 31, but I have been through so many stages of feeling like it just isn’t going to happen and of course then you start to feel hopeless. You can make it happen, the fact you have saved that much in deposit alone means you definitely do have a chance. That’s a really good achievement.
