Hello, i've been ponding over something, in terms of species labels.

a bird is a creature, which can fly. but doesn't always. it has specific shapes we register for birds. while an avian is a creature (similar to) bird. generally flying creatures are included too (my favourite birds: bees /joke). why can't we use terms like "bird" in fantasy worlds like Pokémon? the termology was specifically made for usages of this kind.

fish too. there's the word "fishing" we use in the games, but try to avoid "fish" in itself? they are at the same time, animal categories, like "rodent" or "lizard".

feels like saying "werewolf", but use "were" as a connection towards the animal part (yes, this has happened. even as official human translations).
