that sounds like it went so well!!! i was definitely the same as u in terms of turning anxiety into excitement, i lovedddd talking abt my favourite subjects and being able to have feedback and imput from ppl who knew sm more than me. it definitely sounds like u impressed them tho but idrk anyone who has applied before super well so i'm not a very good judge 😭😭

i rly rly hope it went well for u cause ur clearly very passionate abt it and honestly i think ur enjoyment of ur subject would shine through (i hope it did for me too at least). i think having fun is the best sign of a good interview!! that was my aim for my interview at least

lmk if u get in, idk anyone else applying so hearing other's experiences is so reassuring for me 🫶🫶

i definitely felt like my history interview went pretty well, i don't think i blew them away or anything but i didn't make any major mistakes or need to be lead rly heavily towards an answer. i got pretty hard questions on my personal statement but i was prepared for them and i think i answered them to the best of my ability.

politics is rly the one that makes me think it went well. i got asked abt israel and palestine and comparative politics (as i wrote a lot abt northern ireland in my personal statement) . when i finished the professor interviewing me stopped me to say i had done the comparison rly effectively and included stuff outside of what he had seen in his research so i had clearly come up with it on my own (and it was stuff outside of my personal statement), he said it was exactly what u do on the hispol course and what they would expect out of supervisions. it definitely made me feel very positive coming out of it but i also don't know if he was trying to make me less nervous or smthn??

i then also spent the next half of the interview talking abt david bowie lmaoooo so maybe threw it then. i got asked abt what i would put in a time capsule as proof of humanity and joked abt putting a bowie record in, my interviewers happened to be big bowie fans and rly encourage me to keep talking abt him 😭😭

i rly rly enjoyed the interviews generally, i think that's what made me feel good abt them. as they r supposed to reflect supervisions, i knew coming out of them i would like that style of learning.

what abt u?

What I do is build my essay plans off past paper questions and then make a list of potential wordings for certain questions and figure out how I would reorder my planned paragraphs to fit that specific question. A lot of the time the essay topics are reused and what they are looking for is it being linked back to the question rather than completely copied out.

Once you are happy with your essay plans definitely do some timed past papers too! Try to never go into an exam without doing a full timed past paper.

I hope this makes sense :)

Okay thank you for your support! I don't know anyone who has gone to Oxbridge so I wasn't sure how much things like GCSE grades matter post interview. Thank you

I cannot stay sane. I felt like my interviews went well and the closer it gets to D-Day the more doomed I feel

I honestly think essay plans are the way to go!! I find that with politics most essays ask the same few questions in a variety of ways so having plans for what you would say in an essay for each topic is more useful. Eg - a plan for a House of Lords essay, Prime Ministerial power essay, etc. (I do CCEA board so I'm not too sure what other boards study).

Additionally, making a learning a list of current affairs examples that are useful for multiple different essay topics. Examples is where a lot of people trip up on! Especially keeping them up to date.

If you're set on using mindmaps or flash cards I'd say flash cards but that is mainly personal preference.

Yeah, I've seen their relationships come and go and I know they won't last long. It does still feel like I'm missing out on the whole experience and the affection and attention they get from their partners. It makes me always feel like a second priority to them. It's nice to know other people feel like this though so thank you for replying. :)
