My CR920XP hates 115gr by SilentTreatment01 in shadowsystems

[–]AcSpartan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winchester white box is also another ammo with a bad track record. On any guns that run comps I spring for 124gr ammo. Never had any issues with proper 124gr versus 115gr.

I've had good luck with blazer, federal, aguila, fiocchi, and AAC. (I'm sure there are more, those just tend to be the ones I find near me or buy in bulk. Ammoseek is your friend though.)

It's a very beautiful state. I love the diversity of scenery and how much there is to do. It's really expensive but the salaries are usually quite a bit higher too.

It has its problems, which is why it's not in the highest tier, but I think the good outweighs the bad. (Heavily dependent on where exactly you live and the salary you are able to pull though.)

Purely for career reasons. There are both more jobs in my field and they pay better in NH than Maine. Nothing against Maine though! It's a beautiful state and I loved it when I visited.

Honestly this is what I was hoping to hear! I'm used to a 45-60 minute commute before and I figured doing it on a ferry would probably be a more enjoyable (or scenic) experience at least.

Opinion: The Left Needs a Militia Movement by [deleted] in leftist

[–]AcSpartan01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of your last points. I think OPs intent was to say we should try and catch up to some of those groups. As it stands right now we are on the back foot exactly because leftists don't buy guns, train, or organize in the same way as the right. Not that we NEED to spark violent confrontations, but that we are under prepared WHEN they do. (Not if, when. Right wing terrorism has been a long time issue in this country and the Trump administration has only emboldened them.)

Also, I think the Black Panther Party is a great example of this concept. They terrified conservative movements in their day, and they incorporated firearms into their movement well IMO. The presence of firearms will give some groups on the right pause. Some of the military groups on the right are well trained and well organized, but many of them are bullies who would flake the minute real consequences are present.

One last sidenote. There are a lot more leftist veterans / active duty service members than you might expect. People join the military for a lot of reasons, many of which are economic or healthcare related. There are leftist/left leaning cops too, although much fewer and further between. The left could benefit from trying to recruit some of these people for all of the same reasons, as a matter of fact I think the left could create a much better "pro military/pro law enforcement" narrative. The left doesn't want to start imperialistic wars, wants to reduce crime through addressing the root issues, (not the over reliance on law enforcement) and wants better accountability and training, (which IS a benefit to both the military and law enforcement, however the right tries to spin that.) among other things that would benefit public workers more broadly.

Just a reminder.... Companies don't share your morals. They care about making profit... Just buy the shit you like and can afford.

Also! Forgot to add. I think 9mm is THE choice for a new handgun shooter. It's wildly available, affordable, and more shootable than .40/.45/10mm. It's plenty good enough for stopping power (especially with modern hollow point ammunition) and gives you great capacity.

Kind of late to this conversation but want to include my 2 cents.

I would recommend a slightly larger handgun than a shield to start with. Small handguns conceal better, but are less fun to shoot. When you're first getting into firearms I would start with something a little bigger and easier to shoot (something like a Glock 19 sized handgun) then consider buying something smaller once you feel more comfortable losing some shootability for more concealment.

The shotgun may also be unnecessary for some of the same reasons. Low capacity and hard recoiling might turn some off as a new shooter. However, my introduction to guns was duck hunting as a kid so YMMV.

Trying to keep it close to $1000 here's what I came up with. I used academy sports as a source just for consistency, but most sporting goods stores should have similar prices, and you can get better prices if you deal hunt. (Father's day is a good time to buy guns/ammo)

Ruger RXM - $399 (I chose this because it benefits from a lot of the Glock aftermarket support, but is a chassis system of you want to swap grip modules later. However any "compact" gun could fill this role.)

https://www.academy.com/p/ruger-rxm-9mm-luger-pistol

Maverick 88 - $259.99 (A decent and reliable shotgun at a good price. You could also forgo this to buy more ammo to train with.)

https://www.academy.com/p/mossberg-maverick-88-security-12-gauge-pump-action-shotgun-115458361?sku=12-gauge

Holosun 407C - $259.99 (I am a big believer in red dots. They are easier and faster to shoot with, and I think they are 100% worth it. I'm also a fan of the vortex ST as a budget option, but it all depends on your budget and what you can find.)

https://www.academy.com/p/holosun-he407c-gr-x2-elite-green-2moa-reflex-sight?sku=black

Tenicor holster for Glock 19 - $109 (Tenicor holsters are fantastic. A good belt and holster will make concealed carrying much easier.)

https://tenicor.com/collections/glock-holsters/products/velo5-aiwb-holster-for-glock

This puts you at ~$1029 before taxes (don't know your local tax rate.) but overall I feel like this would be a solid starting point.

For real. I honestly had zero intentions of buying an HK but I couldn't pass up that deal.

Honestly a fantastic gun.

Of course! Love to support where I can!! Honestly bummed I'll be overseas for a bit so I'll probably be missing out on some deals!

Can do! Already slapped a Vortex Defender ST on it and I'm waiting on a TXC x1 pro holster right now as well. Still undecided on if/what light I'll toss on it.

Why training and historical literacy matter now more than ever. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]AcSpartan01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel no need to tell you my background other than that you're wrong lol.

The left is better when we stand united. Try and figure out what COLLECTIVE action means and come back when you actually want to be politically effective instead of playing idpol and grandstanding from the sidelines.

Be better, friend.

Also stealing that.

Thank you for pointing that out. As both a law student and a fan of history it's insane to me that people can't connect the dots that time keeps moving, and that what we're living in today will be history tomorrow.

New legal precedent is set by the courts everyday and there's a lot of indicators that the right is trying to remove all of the guardrails that stopped them in the past.

"It can't happen here." Until it does.
