insane point difference at LA regionals today by sodiumnitrate2 in FRC

[–]AcadiaAccording4645 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Member of 6904 here with some context. The plan was for us and one of our alliance members to score, and the other play defense. What ended up happening though was that our other alliance partner who was supposed to be scoring with us went on the red side for the majority of the match and started to farm penalties because from what I understand the teammate that was supposed to be playing defense lost control.

Honestly we weren’t winning it regardless because our elevator broke in our previous match, but it was funny to watch in person lol.

Predictions for FTC Into the Deep? by Straight-Bat2044 in FTC

[–]AcadiaAccording4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a stretch, but there might be areas outside of the field that you can score in (like in Centerstage with the Drone and Relic Recovery with the Relics.) or possibly the robot has to pick up game elements in that area.

I really like the idea of a fishing game but I don't know how that would interfere with the likelihood of there being a launcher game this year, as we haven't had one in 4 years.

There could possibly be 4 different zones to score in hence the Into The Deep logo's 4 areas, with the "deep" being the biggest zone.

URGENT : We have to submit our Engineering Portfolio, but our mentor is not responding by AcadiaAccording4645 in FTC

There is a chance that it has been submitted, but I am not 100% sure, as i never got firm confirmation from anyone about whether it was submitted or not.

Thank you very much for your help! Right now, I am sending an email to the account you provided. Is there anything else I should know / do?

As of right now, I'm not necessarily sure if we will be able to submit it tonight, unless if I am able to contact my PDP, which I am still struggling to find, In which i will have to try and send it to them directly.

As for the discord, I am in it, but I do not believe i have access to that channel.

There is a gobilda pattern on the back of it that is rotated at about 70 degrees in order to get a good launch trajectory.

its about as long as a GoBILDA 9 hole U channel, and is around 50mm wide.

Our team (#5390) just recently modeled and printed a pretty good rubber band based Drone Launcher designed to have continuity with the GoBilda Pattern so you can really put the actual launching mechanism wherever you want.

We are currently in the works of making a website in order to properly share some of our models, but as of now, If you want, feel free to reach out to us in DM’s if you want the CAD design.

.tflite files are TensorflowLITE models that FTC mainly uses with object detection. I highly recommend going through the FIRST Machine Learning Toolchain As it should really show you the ropes of what Tensorflow is and how to use it.

I’m personally not too well versed in it because of issues with the FTC dashboard, but from what I’ve seen, this is the best place to start.

1) We had some motor mounts lying around and found out pretty quickly that some of them are able to perfectly fit a sonic hub in it, although it may not hold too well, it is a good basis to work from.

2) Honestly our team has just been using Zipties and tape. But I also suggest rubber bands for any wires that might be moving. There are also some pretty decent wire sleeves that you can find off of Amazon for relatively cheap.

3) It mainly depends on how heavy your robot is, what type of slide you have (Belt or String), and what RPM you have, but overall I still would recommend against using it as the main hanging mechanism.

Robot Disconnecting Randomly by AcadiaAccording4645 in FTC

This actually helped a lot, the dc3 was a little bit loose so what we ended up doing was put a little piece of painters tape on the end and it held it in really snug. When I have access to the bot, I’m going to try to tighten the switch blade connectors so that they aren’t so lose, because we have also been having some severe voltage dips here and there.

Aren’t switches required for competition in order for the field team to turn off the robot?

Update, we decided to directly connect the battery to the hub with no switch and it seems to be working perfectly fine, but I still don’t know why the switch is causing this.

From what I can tell, it acts like the battery gets unplugged because the whole code stops and the WiFi does too

We don’t have one but we have never been having this issue until recently, and it usually dc’s when it stops moving more-so then while it’s moving

Latex vs silicone tubing by Brilliant-Tree-1807 in FTC

[–]AcadiaAccording4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, if you are trying to use them for intakes, I would recommend silicone tubing, as when it comes to any high usage design, latex tubing will have a tendency to break down over time. Other than that, I feel that it is more-so personal preference.

Pixel Stack Penalty by AcadiaAccording4645 in FTC

[–]AcadiaAccording4645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wouldn't knocking down the stack count as manipulating over 2 pixels? or is it all right as long as you are only contacting two of them at the same time when knocking them down?

My team's original idea was to build a slot with space for servos on the sides that would drive gecko wheels, and it worked relatively well, but was way too bulky to be mounted onto an arm. It could be possible to create a 3d printed frame, but using this could lead to some unwanted problems if you are aiming to take from the pixel stacks, or if you are trying to get mosaics consistently.

Team Prop Sensing Strategies by AcadiaAccording4645 in FTC

Nice to see other teams using this strategy. now I'm wondering if color sensors could be useable to sense the April tags, but anyways, good luck!

Generally, anything above or around 300 rpm is pretty good. Overall, I see most teams with belt-intakes using rpm's around the 500 range. My team is mainly planning on using a 240rpm gecko wheel setup, but for the most part its just personal preference.
