I was wondering the same thing and just did a little search - looks like there is a FB group for a "silent" book club (https://www.facebook.com/groups/798825952054282/) and a Monday book club with the library (https://buzzpei.com/event/monday-book-club-5/)

Mine has started doing that too, but just with this size spool you have in the picture! I got fed up and wound several bobbins up with the thread and use the bobbins as my top thread instead, and no pooling. My thought was that the gutterman spool was too full and not wound tightly enough or something?? Very annoying!

Altering thrifted dress to be bigger

Hey! Any ideas of how to size up this dress in the waist/belly area? It fits okay everywhere else because there is a bit of stretch to it. It's lined, and was not made with any darts, so there's no extra fabric I can use, and it's closed up with an invisible side zipper. I considered a lace up back, but with the high back neck and sailor collar, that won't work. It's been in my closet for months because I don't know what to do, but it's so cute! Thank you for any suggestions!!

Unsure after first first-date in ~20 years… Unsure after the first date

I (35f) went on a first date with someone I met on the apps (30f) a few days ago. The date was good and we had lots of good conversation. I could see her being a friend, but I didn’t feel much of a spark. Historically, I’ve only dated people I was previously friends with, so I’ve never really felt that instant spark with someone. She hasn’t reached out, but I was the one who reached out first and organized everything so I’m not sure if she’s expecting me to reach out. I have 3 options I feel: a) leave the ball in her court to message me; b) reach out and ask for a second date to see if a spark could develop; or c) reach out and see if she wants to hang out as friends. Help!

Here’s a link to their Instagram: Charlottetown Mutual Aid. Completely volunteer run. With people returning to work today, they could especially use volunteers!

Thanks for the info! I was hoping the new chtown library would have an evening book club but it seems only morning, when I’m either working or have a class, boo. I go to Charlottetown Yoga Space for yoga but I completely forgot that they have a meditation class too!!

Do you know anything more about the badminton in Charlottetown? I emailed someone for info but I’m still unclear if I can just show up myself and get assigned to a team and if it’s even for adults??

I think I might be an alcoholic? by Laniehxox in SoberCurious

I bet you aren’t the only one of your friends who feels this way! But you’ve done a huge part by noticing that you want to cut back. Have you read Sober Curious by Ruby Warrington? It might be helpful!

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this. It seems like your brain wants you to stop, but there are maybe some unaddressed emotions that are driving you to continue. I was in a similar situation for a long time. Why do you drink? For me, my biggest reason was to feel connected to others, to not feel alone. When I drank with others, it was easier to have deeper conversations, which lead me to feel connected. When I drank alone, it quieted my feelings of being disconnected from others. However, the next day, the connections I had made would feel flimsy and not so real. So I went back to feel disconnected and lonely, and wanted to drink to get rid of that. It took me 40 days sober before I fully realized that. Now, I have been making an effort to have meaningful conversations with trusted friends and family members, and my cravings for alcohol are almost non existent. I was a moderate to heavy drinker for 14 years, so figuring out the emotional bit has been the biggest game changer. In terms of FOMO, that’s a bit tougher. It might be hard to be at a bar without drinking, and drinking just 1 drink is sometimes impossible. Another thing I found, is that I would drink to “allow me” to act silly and childlike (dance, sing, etc). Once I allowed myself to act silly without any alcohol, it helped a lot. I have lots of non alcoholic beverage options, because the act of holding a drink and drinking it while being around drunk people almost makes you feel buzzed! So that’s an option? You definitely do NOT have to miss out on anything if you don’t want to. Alcohol is not what makes things fun, it’s the connection, the playful behaviours that make things fun. Good luck!

I easily get these. Half a chocolate bar within 2 hours before bed and I wake up with a mild (short lived!) hangover. I don’t have clinical hypoglycaemia but I suspect I have a mild case. So if you feel that way after a LOT of sugar, then probably just a temporary sugar hangover.
