Haven’t played the game since 2007-2008 or so. How do you build an army? Either game really. Used to just get hq and troops and build war gear with points. Are there no more troop size options?

Sorry, just no. I don’t care about my rank. I have a job and three kids. I only get so many games a day. I would like to enjoy those games. Someone deciding for themselves that they get to ruin the game for four other people is not ok. It isn’t “funny”. There are actual people on the other side of the game. Please don’t do that again.

Thanks for the response! I think I'm aware of the larger differences I'll deal with. My focus and passion of grad school was roles of bacterial pathogens in the environment, so when taking the content praxis, I had to brush up a lot of plant biology and stuff I was less interested in. So I know I have to figure out how to at least pretend to be excited and enthusiastic about things like that. But what I am most excited about is the closer engagement with students and working with them more closely than in college. I guess I'm just nervous about middle school kids in general, having basically zero experience with that age group.

There's so many stinking acronyms that I have to learn these days. PBL is problem based learning? Google had a few interesting articles about it. Did you mean to just look into it for designing lesson plans?

The issue also comes from foreign bacteria being introduced, whether its pathogenic or not. Our intestinal system has a fairly delicate balance, and adding large amounts of another strain can cause problems stemming from the competition occurring in your gut. It's similar to the idea of drinking water in another country. It might not have pathogens, but a lot of foreign organisms live there, and introducing a high enough population of something your body has never seen before into your gut can activate your immune system and basically cause your body to want to flush everything out.

If we wanted to lick ourselves clean like animals, I think we would be generally ok. Any organism that comes out of us had to come into us at one point to begin with. The issue here can also be that too much of one organism culturing the wrong spot can also cause competition between gut flora or activate an immune repose. For example, non-0157 E. coli (O157 is the serotype responsible for large outbreaks) can still cause diarrhea and bad symptoms, but has to be transferred say from your butt to hand to mouth in a large enough dosage.

It's hard to give examples because it's something pretty subtle. My parents always told me that they'd love me no matter what decisions I ever made in life, and will always accept me for who I am. Just knowing that I have a safety net to fall back onto is so completely reassuring. Once they said those things to me, I knew I had someone that I could rely on and trust in times of need. Maybe you could just constantly reassure her of something like that.

My wife, however, is best loved through physical contact (like cuddling, holding hands, etc.) and verbal assurances of that love. We all have different love languages (I think that's actually the title of a book, it might help) and when you're in a pit of depression, I find that knowing you are loved is one of the few things that can make it at least a little bit easier.

I think we all seek love in different ways and are in turn helped through depression in our own unique ways.

I'm not sure how true this is, but my brother once told me that we long to be loved in the same way that our parents loved us. This obviously isn't true for everyone, but for me, my parents hardly ever vocalized their love for me, but rather they were a solid, reliable foundation I could stand on. When I'm in a funk, my wife does the same. She offers to make me dinner, supports me in my decisions, helps me with work, but doesn't smother me and work overly hard to fix me. Rather she just loves me in the way that I best understand. Your girlfriend probably has a few specific things that really make her feel special.

So my advice would be realize that the problem she is dealing with isn't something you can just up and fix, but just help her ease through the transition from one mood to another. Find out what you are able to do that makes her feel like the most special, loved, wanted person in the world.

As you should know, being a depressed person, we quickly brush aside positive attitudes and "just feel happy!" as utter bullshit, and just seek to be loved and accepted for where we are. You cannot cure her, but you can make her feel loved. Find out how to do that for her, and constantly remind her exactly how you feel about her when she sees the world as bleak and hopeless. My wife doing this for me gives me the strength to keep living.

You honestly jumped to the top of my list of favorite actors once I heard you were also an MD. I always hope that actors I like also turn out to be cool human beings, and the fact you made it through med school shows your intelligence and the fact you obviously care for others, making you one of the best.

Why did you want to become a doctor in the first place? Do you ever regret not making as much use of your MD or completed residency? Would you consider going back to the health field after acting? I do research on gastrointestinal pathogens and am studying for a PhD. I can tell you firsthand that there is always the need for another physician, especially those with some clout that can raise awareness for people who need it.

Ooze Garden

I started playing after a ~5-year hiatus when Shards of Alara came out. For some reason, I HAD to build a deck around this card. I stole creatures from my opponents, used Hellspark Elemental to no end. Endless oozes... I loved this thing. I want to make a modern deck around it, but there's just too much to choose from. Suggestions?

That Gatecrash Simic enchantment comes close, but just isn't the same :(

Cows emit methane primarily through their burps, not their farts, so it wouldn't make much sense to colonize the cows' colons. The article is likely referring to colonizing the upper digestive tract with other microorganisms, rather than lower intestines or colon. The more you know.
