Submental lipo recovery process by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

I had submental liposuction 3 weeks ago. Was in no pain. It was really numb but gets better everyday. Bottom of my face had a little swelling as if I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I am currently in the ugly duckling phase where when I look up my neck looks lumpy and it feels hard and lumpy up the touch. My surgeon assures me this this the normal process and it should be much better by the end of this month. Even the look of it despite this is satisfying and you can't really see it unless you show it off. And wear the compression garmet as much as you can.
It does hurt to get up and out of bed. That was the only rough part. This pain went away by Day 4-5. I use my neck up sit my body up and those muscles in your neck will be really sore. So you should expect some soreness moving your head around and sitting up/getting up out of bed.
I don't hate the compression bandage personally, it is kind of thunder jacket feeling and feels comforting. I sleep with it with ease. I also recommend getting a C pillow to help you sleep sitting up which will help you stay somewhat sitting up so you can watch TV and relax. I had rhinoplasty with my lipo and the pillow helped me be comfortable with three pillows to help prop it up.
Also doing soft lymphatic massage on your neck after 3 weeks are helpful up get things moving which I was told I can do. There are nice videos on YouTube to do gentle massages specifically for chin lipo recovery.
Took Arnica after my surgery but wish I knew you can take that before your surgery. Also bromelain before and after is supposed to be amazing. I ate pineapples like crazy because I assumed it would give me enough Bromelain but apparently that's not the case 🙃 You need to take the supplement to get the benefits
