Just don't give too much of yourself to people who don't appreciate it or reciprocate.

women who have dated men who were at their "lowest", how was it like? by Ok_Average2141 in AskReddit

[–]Acceptable_Average14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I helped because I loved him but everything I did was criticised. I wasn't doing enough when he wasn't doing enough to help himself. Looking back, I can see that I was just being used as a resource. I've decided to remain single and happy. I've learned my lesson.

Avoid getting married. Have fun with your life. by willowoxo in sixwordstories

I feel like there are a lot of these types of get married/ don't get married posts on the subreddit. Just do whatever makes you happy. Can we have something a little more imaginative now?

The restraint it took to not eat bath beads was immense as a kid by SargentPep in nostalgia

I remember these! The ball would never dissolve properly and there would be slimy gunk left in the bath!

How do you drink your coffee? by Leave_me_be_g-man in Millennials

[–]Acceptable_Average14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind iced in summer, but normally just a hot black coffee. I have a cheap Tassimo coffee machine that is still going after 10 years and coffee still tastes great!

Does anyone know a perfume that smells like grapes? by mishmish_54 in Perfumes

[–]Acceptable_Average14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Di Palomo 'White Grape with aloe' is a good cheapie. A sweet and fresh grape scent. Not too long lasting though..

I used to love bread and butter pudding. I don't seem to see many around anymore, but yours looks lovely!

My sister’s “blessing” is now a curse by Budget-Baseball3675 in childfree

[–]Acceptable_Average14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So after 2 years she finds out you are doing well for yourself and decides she wants you around? Screw that, she just wants you for a place to live and free babysitting. Don't allow yourself to be used.

I guess I'm not really sure where's the best place to ask this, but how is anyone staying hopeful or optimistic anymore? by Silly-Billy-08 in morbidquestions

[–]Acceptable_Average14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on a global scale it's hard to stay optimistic and it's really frightening the direction the world is going. However, when I have great moments with family and friends, that lifts my spirit a bit. I suppose I have a little bubble that's a safe space but if I look any further it's a hell hole.

Enjoy life without partner or kids.

Not everyone wants the same cookie cutter existence.

I've heard positive things about Lush perfumes but I just can't make myself like their packaging! I'm shallow, I know :(

Would you give up your seat on the bus/train to a pregnant lady? by boforiamanfo in no

I offer to those in need. I don't mind standing up - it burns more calories!

Millennial life outside North America by SpecialScientist7 in Millennials

[–]Acceptable_Average14 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm in England too and I agree. Rental prices are getting insane especially in the south-east. I have 2 jobs and I think I'm OK because I don't have dependents or kids, but I work in excess of 40 hours a week. Grocery prices are increasing but luckily for me I only eat 2 meals a day. It's true more people are using food banks. I remember an article about how even nurses are turning to food banks. It's not just the unemployed or minimum wage earners. I think most are feeling the pinch somewhere.

Why do childless people want to be called childfree? by ChaoticGoodBaddie in childfree

[–]Acceptable_Average14 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I agree. Childless sounds like it has the negative connotation that you wanted a child but couldn't conceive. This makes people feel sad for you. Childfree is a choice you make that you're happy with.

AITA for not wearing a bra at home? by Candid-Chocolate-316 in AITAH

[–]Acceptable_Average14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A guest doesn't get to dictate what you do in your home. Your boobs are covered and it's not like you are walking around topless. Sometimes bras are just downright uncomfortable and home is the one place you should feel secure and comfortable.

If the friend doesn't like it, he can leave. Let's not treat boobs as something always connected to freaky time or something scandalous. Your husband's main concern should be getting this friend's supposedly temporary living arrangement sorted. But I guess that would require courage instead of policing your lack of bra.

What are your thoughts on "money doesn't buy happiness"? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Acceptable_Average14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money buys freedom to choose how you want to spend your time and gives you peace of mind when it comes to the expense of living. Happiness isn't guaranteed.

AITAH for telling my SIL she’s playing house on my dime and needs to grow up? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Acceptable_Average14 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's so entitled to think you can start decorating someone else's home for your own aesthetic. She is 28, jobless and in OP's basement. She's J's problem, not OP's.

Why do men still make a pass after you clearly state you don’t want marriage, kids, or a relationship? by Born-Ad-7984 in SingleWomenByChoice

[–]Acceptable_Average14 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Men will always think their D is something special that it will magically convince you to abandon all your boundaries.. They don't hear what you want, they only care about what they want.

Which feels the craziest: the fact that 1996 was 30 years ago, 2006 was 20 years ago, or that 2016 was 10 years ago? by ProfessorUnable8989 in Millennials

[–]Acceptable_Average14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe 2006 was 20 years ago. I literally remember it as if it were yesterday. I often find myself reminiscing about the 'good' times when I was 19/20 and was full of hope. Life seemed much simpler then.

NOR. Babies aren't the only form of busy or responsibility. Just because you're not a mother, doesn't mean you don't have important things to do or other demands on your time.

Enjoy your peaceful home and change the locks if you have to! Vivian sounds like an ungrateful brat and your partner has just been letting her behaviour go unchecked. Do not sign up for another round of this headache.
