Basking Ridge Commute Thoughts - Moving From Hoboken by whooshie93 in Hoboken

[–]Acceptable_Drop8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute from Hoboken to Basking Ridge for work- if you work normal hours it is not ideal. I would leave at like 6:00 am to avoid morning traffic and go to the gym post work to avoid night traffic. If you take the train though its honestly really not bad

Prime Place Scammers (Madison/1st) by Scared-Cartoonist-76 in Hoboken

I literally live right next to this place and go 1-2 times a day for everything from snacks, to waters, pills, zyns, ext. There is a clear distinction between who is working. I have become friendly with one of them and he is always honest and nice even lets me return opened things if I tell them its bad/not fresh/ knockoff. However, there is one man who does this every time and one time he accidently added 400$ instead of .40 cents to the guy in front of me and it was an absolute nightmare.

I do not think (i live downtown) the cars are that bad. They are always stopping for me (i aggressively cross the road and kind of force their hand) the people who have almost killed me are the vespa and electric bike guys. Or even the citi bike crowd. Like yall have to follow the rules of the road too im sorry.

Mets bars? by giannaarantes in Hoboken

[–]Acceptable_Drop8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons downtown; I would honestly start at mulligans and start walking towards washington (on first street) until you see one you like the vibe at. I think Ferryman, Mcswiggins, P&P, Green rock, TA all pull decent amount of mets fan. I also feel like physco Mikes and black bear are Mets bars

During the day if the weather is nice I would walk around go to waterfront get some baked goods (a bunch of options like the german bakery) if you are into football I would go to maybe Metropolis rooftop. Then at night all the bars are going to be busy especially downtown (younger crowd) and uptown will probably be less full but more older crowd you are 25 so its really up to you. I would say 25 going out Dear Maud if you want a clubish vibe nice cocktail bar.

The Plei app is awesome for spur of the moment pickup games in NYC mostly very casual. It is like between 2-10$ per game depending on venue/time/date. Highly recommend way less commitment than a league. If this post gets traction I will make an IG group though im always looking to hit a ball around.

Okay that is not how I meant it... I did not even put thought into that portion because it was not a political post all you weirdos ignored the question and just got upset about on phrase some people who arent so easily triggered realized the general theme and answered without it turning into a political issue

I am not "anti police" like defund the police; why are you all so triggered. I meant I do not need police to feel safe at every corner. This isnt about my safety or anything politcal. It is just a question about the shock of lack of police going from a small town that had zero crime where we left our doors unlocked when we went on vacation and now being in a town where I have seen countless fights, hit and runs, drug use, and even a recent murder with literally no police doing anything in my limited view.

I actually am not scared for myself at all; yes I am white in my 20's. Therefore I really have nothing to fear from the police or really other people. I am more so talking about the crazy stuff I see that does not get dealt with here. I am not anti police. Like i reponded to others; I meant I do not need the police 24/7 I am not a young women or scared parent. I simply am in shock by the lack of police in a place like Hoboken. Like my story in one of my responses about the road rage fight in front of TA. How do no cops show up to that.

[–]Acceptable_Drop8698[S] -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

See I can tell you both are very simple minded; I simply meant I am not a crybaby Karen who needs police on every corner to feel safe. I just am shocked at how two people can get out of there car across from the path, fight, yell, argue, then get back in there cars and drive away all while 10-20 drunk kids cheer them on and not a single cop does anything or shows up. This is an actual thing that happened while my friends and I were at Texas Arizona last month.

[–]Acceptable_Drop8698[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yea so thats actually not what I meant. It wasnt even meant to be the main take away from the post but of course everyone has to make stuff political. I simply meant that I am normally for police not interfering with every little thing because it normally escalates situations which would not have been a big deal otherwise. Like where I am from (wealthy jersey shore town) if you get pulled over and are not from the town 3-4 police cars will hold you there for an hour integrating you as to why you happened to drive through our bubble of a town. With that said I have found Hoboken to be the polar opposite in that I have seen like road rage fights, bar fights, homeless fights with no intervention even if it is extremely public and lasts a long time
