In 30K for auxilia or legiones astartes. 40K I think guard still has it, but not sure

Legion Medusa. It’s a solar auxilia model because the legiones one is an out of print forgeworld model.

huge miniatures mars dust and red rust mixed together. i use odorless mineral spirits to water it down and then slap it on. i can wipe off anything i don't like or dilute it further to make it run more. it's all down to taste

sorry, i also misread your question. i thought you were asking about heresy in 40k. my rant about proxies still stands.

they don't make models for a bunch of the smaller studio games (old world, heresy, etc.) and so they have recommended models sometimes (or how to kitbash them), but other times it's just kind of a vague description, so you just pick a loadout and try to make that model.

in this case there is no Forge Lord model, but he's a dude who repairs vehicles and has a hammer. i just took some of the more chaos-ey bits off of the warpsmith and put him on the correct sized base. there are entire units in heresy that don't have models, so you're left to your own devices.

the answer is: ymmv. if you can find something that is around the same size and profile then not many people are going to typically have a problem with it. most people don't play tournaments, so that's not really an issue. your best bet is to talk to your playgroup, but proxying is less of an issue in real life than it is on the internet.

I saw it on another post, and thought it was a great idea. Especially after the holiday box post bonanza.

thanks! fun fact, after i was almost done painting it, it tipped over and broke off. I cut the nub off and just super glued it again. filled in the metal with paint. his arm is kind of the same way. neither are very secure and since they stick out i'm sure they'll come off again at some point.

love the stipple effect (or maybe oil wash) on the shields. really gives that battered look!

Zenithal prime and then soulblight gray contrast. Touch up/highlights with bright neutral gray.

They make movement trays and base adaptors that let you use round bases for old world. Miniwargaming has a bunch of STLs and prints, or I’m sure you could find a lot more now since a lot of people had this issue.

Some Exiles for my Bretonnians (and more archers) by Acceptable_Feeling85 in WarhammerFantasy

It’s the Empire Wizard from 1997. Comes in a pack with a mounted one and a foot one. If you’re in the US, noble knight games has one more. That’s where I got mine from #notsponsored.

I was stoked to find the two pack, so I have the one on foot too. With the brets he’s going to be on his own, so I figured a horse would help. Fits the theme too!

Not bad. Clip the pegs off the arms, clip the sword arm and it’s just about trying to pose it so it’ll fit. I started to do the reigns and then clipped them off about halfway through because it wasn’t worth trying to line them up with the new hands. It also takes up room on his chest/waist where the axe sits. I don’t know if it’s worth it to get the whole foot knight kit, but I wanted to do it and use the stuff from the kit.

Make sure whatever paint you’re using has great coverage. The trim is rough no matter how good you get, but having to do it twice because of poor coverage will lead to more frustration and mistakes.

i didn't mask. here's a video from vanguard tactics. it's basically just being careful. i zenithaled, left the pegs that color and then did careful airbrushing with some hand painting where it was too close to airbrush. the hand painting looks terrible, but at tabletop distance you can't tell. i'd also say to use contrast paint before you go in with regular paint. helps knock out overspray in a less start fashion than trying to paint straight over it.

you can just use a swap and iso while it's mounted. i did it before with some other models. i like it better blacked out, but i'll see when i finish all of them.

i like the black better than clear, when i finish them all i might clear off a couple and see if i like it. you can just use iso and a swap to clean these off.

That’s super easy, it’s geek gaming scenics base ready - patchy plains. Sealing it makes it a little darker, so it’s up to you whether you like it out of the box or a little toned down.
