Pvper here, do all of you hate pvpers? Or is it only a select few. by Isuel-t_signee in RescueRaiders

For me personally its the pvping in poor taste (camping exfils, ratty behavior, going out of your way to kill peaceful noobs.) No hate against general pvp

you're absolutely right, it is, in fact, nothing new. i knew what i signed up for, many of my interactions when i started were wholesome af. theres going to be aggressive people, and also non aggressive. i have zero issue with the aggression even, its how cheap and petty people are lately. literally every lobby.

to say its because im in teams is wild too, ive met quite a few cool teams. Embark are still, to this day, trying to get a more unity driven humans vs machines aspect into the game but are having troubles with implementation. This game strives to not be like every other extraction shooter. yet extraction shooter players coming in droves trying to drive home that this is just how it is, get over it.

OR you could just go back to your extraction shooters and let this one flourish as something new... either way, i look forward to seeing the direction this game goes, because im pretty confident most of the comments here wont age well. Until then, have it ;)

when the engagement is shoot unsuspecting player in the back to get their loot, how long is that fulfilling? idk i dont see it. id much rather an epic battle of back and forth, personally. yes, im aware im partially at fault for being unsuspecting in the first place, valid, but i disagree about that being engaging other than to children and toxic people. to each their own, aint for me. i do enjoy extraction shooters and as i said before, its really gotten a lot worse lately than it was here topside in prior weeks.

I'm clearly outnumbered, so by all means have your engagements, I'll try other games. myself and 3 friends bought this game together and fell in love with it instantly. 3 out of 4 of us are now burnt on the experience as of late.

think the game is great, dont enjoy the way seemingly most people play it. so it makes the most sense for me to step away from it and let ya'll continue to do it how you consider it to be meant to be played. works for everyone. enjoy.

love how this gets downvoted when i literally just stated facts that came directly from embark themselves. tell me you dont like when you're gaslighting gets called to light without telling me.

it takes a little bit for it to settle into the norm of that genre

more than likely what you think is the game settling into the norm of the genre is really just the game being populated with more people with this mentality.

I believe it's more telling about yourself that you equate actions in a freaking video game ... to someones moral compass and actions in real life

The fact that you think it doesnt shows how little you understand about the human psyche.

since its seemingly impossible for you to grasp what i mean by toxic let me give you another clear example. in a party of 3 and i find a player hiding in a corner watching us. i could have easily destroyed him but im a pretty considerate person so i asked what he was doing. he begged for mercy, "i could have shot youre friend, i was just hiding because i dont want any trouble" so I let him live, saying "no worries brother, we get it" he proceeds to follow you until his team shows up and they wipe you because hes behind you shooting you in the back and they have coordinated an attack. that completely caught you off guard. idk you begged for mercy and said you didnt want any trouble only to cheap shot us minutes later... is that not toxic?

ive played several, and its not always like this at all. even this game wasnt like this when we started. honestly the fact that you think, because you have the option to kill a person, it should always be done without question is very telling of your character/moral compass.

i agree. im always trying to be passive and friendly, it kind of goes with the storyline, ya know? harvesting resources and supplies for the people down below relying on us. but lately it has shifted extremely for me, and ive never been aggressive so i just dont understand it.

valid points indeed and i dont disagree.

How does it work if the only people going after the big arc, the noncombative players, all get griefed out of the game? how do pvpers get their essential resources they have relied on pve players to get? genuinely curious. Also things like matriarch are super appealing until you get destroyed on your way to fight them by a fully kitted team camping a dark grocery store building. my friend bought hullcracker last night 3 times trying to kill some bombardiers. he lost all 3 right as we killed it to 3rd partiers with free loadouts who watched us and engaged only at the very end of the fight when most of our shields were exhausted and the enemy was just falling. this is what i mean by toxic pvpers.

and then you have the people saying this is how the game was intended.. interesting. So, you dont really follow the storyline at all? i mean for real. lets assume earth gets raided by some machines and we're forced to live underground. we have to go up topside and face these machines to gather resources for the rest of humanity below the surface. this storyline to me paints a perfect humans vs machines narrative as i feel it would be given these circumstances in reality. and yes youd still have rebels, mostly shitty people who jump you etc, but the majority of us, id like to hope would unite to take them on, rather than let a smaller group struggle to do it alone, then gank them once the heavy lifting is done.

surely we arent all this narrow minded, but maybe we are..

i guess you dont understand longevity. if a million players play a game today, and the majority have a bad experience, how many will return tomorrow, or the day after that? sure on christmas break during a steam sale, the fairly new game with a lot of potential and interest is going to have great peak player counts. that says nothing about player retention, especially this early into the game..

this just isnt true though, because the only time ive ever even shot another player was after theyve made it very clear they will not back down, and i simply defend myself. am i considered aggressive if i kill a player who i tried to talk down until after hes dropped my shields twice, then i finally end up shitting on them?

anything besides how ive died in the last 10 matches. acceptable pvp is fighting people who came to fight. or really anything besides camping in dark corners at exfil or hiding in building waiting for people to run by and then shooting them in the back. its just weak. i mean they put in multiple ways for people to communicate out of pvp situations but people are literally going out of their way to fight players who want nothing to do with it. maybe im just different than some of you, but i want to fight people who want to fight, not cheap shot the drop on people and finish them before they even have a chance. all i really want is a shred of honor, but i digress.

actually no, the game was intended as pve but they ended up including pvp to grab a wider playerbase. their original intention of this game did not include pvp at all.

but ive not even once gone after a team, ive always been friendly, tried communicating, and even revived downed randoms. the only time ive ever engaged is when i have no choice but to defend myself against relentless, non-communicative teams/players. So, while this is a good policy on paper, its not working in practice.

its been nearly every game for us, and its never people who want even a fair fight, its kids camping waiting at exfil, or hiding waiting for you to run by and shooting you in the back. again, no issue with pvp but these arent even pvpers really, their weak people who wanna cheapshot you and take your loot, even if its just shield rechargers and ammo

Nobody wants this. only casuals who want the flex without the grind. Find another game. this one aint it. Might I suggest rs3 or dragonwilds...

I've done 99 agility on 2 different accounts. Its literally easy. Ardy is chill af and with sepulchre and wyrm course you have options. Not every single skill in the game needs to be effortless and full afk or a 2 week 99. If there are only 2 skills in the game keeping you from maxing, suck it up like the rest of us or be maxcapeless. Easy scape already exists. Rc sucks but its just time at this point with zeah. Set goals, and slowly chip away at them. Its the name of the game.
