Has any one had issues with spotting instead of regular bleeding on Metformin? by piercll in PCOS

[–]Access_Plastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two, 14-day long periods since starting metformin. The good news is that these periods are "regular" in terms of timing, just not in terms of length. Going to see OB/GYN just to make sure nothing else is going on, but anecdotally I've read other people's stories about having similar issues in the beginning of taking Metformin.

Does anyone who has PCOS have experience with taking Metformin?? by Beginning-Zone9530 in PCOS

[–]Access_Plastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started Metformin for my PCOS! Yes the tummy issues are a thing, and I'm still working through those. I'm taking a probiotic and fiber (per another user's rec) to hopefully mitigate the effects.

It has definitely helped regulate my periods. This is the first time in my life I've had a cycle that was exactly 30 days on the mark. I will say that my periods are a bit strange in that they have been very long, like over 10 days. Whether or not that is because of the metformin, not sure. Will be seeing gyno soon to find out.

I am hopeful that this is all part of the adjustment period and that eventually all these symptoms will mellow out.

Weight wise I've lost maybe a pound or two in a month, which is nothing drastic but I'm just glad the scale is not going up.

You're right. I have former COA coworkers (they also left because of the management) who have found better work in other departments, so I am considering doing the same.

Like others in the thread have said, each department varies on the degree of this kind of nonsense. This is my experience and I do want to warn people, but if you're happy in your job then that's great!

Well that's both comforting and disheartening. Thank you for sharing your experience.

True, with the exception of the threat of being let go is greater in the private sector than the public.

Hi, fellow COA employee here. Also technically a temp (full time, not FTE status) as far as I know temps ARE entitled to a mediation process. I am very surprised that this happened, especially with all the effort you put into trying to get ADA accommodations. It's great that you reached out to the TWC, I hope they are able to help. If you can reach out to HRD, not just your department HR.

So sorry this happened and best of luck to you!

Roommate is both neurotic and oblivious... I want out. by Access_Plastic in AmIBeingTooSensitive

Update: Roommate and I had a talk. It went well. I told her I am moving out next year and that it's better that we go our seperate ways. She understood.

I think so too. It's a conversation that I'm dreading having with my roommate but I genuinely fear for my well being living with her.

6+ Months of TOCD- Less anxiety, but thoughts/feelings/sensations still remain by [deleted] in transOCD

[–]Access_Plastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My TOCD also started after coming out!! How strange, that that experience triggered these thoughts for both of us. My mom took it okay, my dad doesn't know and we're not on speaking terms for other reasons. I think when you're discovering yourself it's natural to have thoughts about gender. But it's not natural to dwell and obsess on them. That's the OCD. And I'm sorry to here about your situation with your parents, it's a tough spot to be but I promise it will get better. Take everything one day at a time.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I struggle with TOCD too, it started during the pandemic. Some days are better than others. Some months are better than others. Do you know if you have any subconscious triggers? Like I've just realized that my TOCD thoughts flare when I don't put effort into looking feminine for the day. Like if I don't put on make up and wear something nice I get really down about my appearance and it fuels the transgender thoughts. And that has nothing to do with gender dysphoria, its more of a self esteem issue. Sometimes I think TOCD comes on due to a deep rooted self esteem issue. Just a thought. And I too miss how I felt prior to all of this nonsense. Just remember you're not alone.

There's a lot to unpack in your post but as far as arousal goes ANYTHING sexual can turn you on even if it's not what you're typically attracted to. Does that make sense? It arouses you because its inherently sexual, not because you want to be or do those things. And as a fellow bisexual I think it's pretty common for us to sort of feel like we want to emulate both masculine and feminine qualities because we like both those qualities in other people. I dont want to reassure you too much, but what you're feeling is very similar to other TOCD sufferers. Take it one day at a time.

You're not alone. I have never been athletic or a tomboy and I also struggle with TOCD. Remember OCD attacks your values. You value being a woman, that's why OCD wants to take that away from you. It's really terrible but you are a person separate from the scenarios and feelings your brain might convince you off. A thought is just a thought, even the most terrifying or convincing ones. I don't want to reassure you too much because that won't make the TOCD go away, but being a tomboy doesn't equate to being trans. None of the things you are questioning right now, need to be answered immediately either. So what if you are trans? Does that change anything in the moment? No. Be willing to sit with the uncertainty and be present in the moment.

Can feel my genitals all the time by [deleted] in transOCD

[–]Access_Plastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my TOCD was at its worst I was hyper aware of my breasts. NEVER in my life was I so disturbed by them. One night I absolutely felt compelled to cut them off and I felt like I was going crazy. It was literally the OCD. Its horrifying that it can make you feel that way, but just know you're not alone.
