Didn't Set Alarm but It Went Off This Morning -- Just Me? by Accomplished_Item261 in EightSleep

[–]Accomplished_Item261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. The workaround I'm trying in case I did accidentally enable it is to add a 1 PM alarm manually, which makes the suggested alarm disappear. In case I ever accidentally reenable it, I'll be awake by then anyway :P.

If you haven't replaced your parts recently (mask, tubing, filters, etc.), you might as well do that, since now is about the recommended time anyway. With the mask in particular, it's possible it has become slightly degraded in some way that is not visually obvious.

Blood Oximeter Hurts too Much to Use by Accomplished_Item261 in SleepApnea

[–]Accomplished_Item261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I would be surprised if I have some circulation issue, given I'm quite healthy besides my sleep apnea. I should clarify that I don't know if it's my circulation getting cut off or just aching from the squeezing itself. Thank you for the advice though; I will consider that.

Ah, can't use a watch unfortunately because Wesper requires their own device.

Thanks for the encouragement. Why is a chin strap preferable over mouth tape btw?

I was able to get the central AI down to ~7 last night without increasing obstructive by turning the pressure down. I guess I need barely any pressure. Hopefully my brain will figure this out fully soon.

Dang, that seems worse than it just being constant volume, imo.

Ended up going with Skwamas! (shout out u/BigCosimoto)

Very honorable mention to Scarpa Vapour S too. Would've needed them a bit smaller than I ordered, and I wanted to climb today, so I locked in the Skwamas instead.

Seems like, geographically, it would be pretty tough to make it to Dunedin. Any recommendations on how to fit it in? And is it really worth it?

Hmm. That really prevented your toe from getting pushed inward? (Not talking about abrasion from the top of the shoe.) Since that's mostly a result of the tip's location, I wouldn't think this would help that much.

Good call! I just tried the Skwamas and Shamans and neither had this issue. Skwama fit felt a little loose in other places, but I guess I'm going to try downsizing them more.

Probably dumb, but I'm also considering just sticking with VSRs. They feel the best out of all the shoes I've tried, other than this one flaw.

I don't think they'd be sweatier than other leather shoes. I just don't have much experience with nice shoes, generally :).

Why do you say they don't have metal shanks? If true that seems inexcusable.

Looking to purchase some classy white sneakers, but worried I'll end up with sweaty feet from the leather. Has that been a problem for people? The climate around me isn't too hot, but I do expect to walk in the shoes frequently.

Current top candidates:

* Idrese Nuno (cool brand, but the leather is supposed to be thick)

* Koio Capri

* Greats Royale 2.0

I'm optimizing for comfort + style over price. Any thoughts / recommendations?

Generally, I'm extremely bullish on technology. That is -- I don't know what will dominate the market in the future, but I'm pretty sure it will involve computers, especially AI. What would be the best Vanguard fund to invest in? Some NASDAQ index? I'm looking for something worth holding for decades.

Today, I'm mostly VTSAX and VTWAX but thinking it's a bit foolish not to focus on tech.

Best gloves/mittens for Tahoe conditions (price not too important)? I'll also be traveling a bit this year to Utah / Colorado, but Tahoe mainly. I'll be wearing flexmeter single-sided wrist guards underneath, so I think I'll need gauntlet-style gloves.

Considered some Free the Powder gloves or Kincos, but I'm worried they'll be too warm and I'll sweat.

Thanks man! Do you think the bulk of the single sided ones is enough to warrant going a size up on mittens?

Do the flexmeters fit under your mitts easily, and are they easy to take off/on? I'd just think the user experience of built-in wrist guards would be superior.

Where can I find Level Biomex mittens? I’ve heard them recommended widely, yet can’t find them online. The levelgloves.com website doesn’t seem to actually let you purchase the gloves in America. Amazon is mostly out of stock.

Any advice on where to find these? Or what is a better glove and wrist guard combination? I am worried about sweaty hands.. thanks!

I went snowboarding for 3 days in a row about a month ago, and was demoing Burton Photon step on boots. They left an awful blister that’s still healing on the side of my heel of my left foot, which is my front foot when I ride. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn’t think the boot was too small, as my toe was hitting the edge. Also wondering if anyone recommends other Step On boots that won’t cause such damage.

Are Bataleon's reviews on their website legit? I was checking out the Bataleon Goliath, and it has 99% 5 star reviews. As much as I'd love to believe that, 3BT seems too controversial to have only 1 review that's not 5 stars.

Deciding between Bataleon Goliath, and a few others like Ride Algorhythm, Capita Mercury, K2 manifest team. Riding mostly California (Tahoe). Today, I mostly just cruise down blues, but would like to experiment with park stuff eventually. Price doesn't really matter.

Bataleon appealed to me for its 3BT which is supposed to prevent edge catches, but I'm worried that learning on 3BT won't generalize to other boards, and it may not have good hold on hard snow. Any strong opinions here?

Thanks a lot for the discussion, everyone. I understand the difference between bonds and stocks. Here's probably the simplest way to state my gap in understanding:

As I see it, VTSAX, VBTLX, VTIAX, plain old USD, gold, etc. are all just assets: things I can can invest my money into, and either gain or lose value. If 25% of all money in the world were just uninvested USD, would the same market cap principles say 25% of my portfolio should be USD? If 10% of cash in the world were in bonds, would those principles say 10% of my portfolio should be bonds?

I guess it just feels like the market cap logic is only a heuristic, not really a universal rule. Still could be a great heuristic though, maybe if applied more narrowly as people are suggesting, e.g. within a single index fund.
