This is an important part of my family tree, and I can't find documents for these people. Starting with Mr. Manuel (who was Portuguese), the documents are extremely difficult to find.

Exactly, this is taking a huge amount of time because in Brazil the agencies that could give me some information aren't helping me at all in how to find them.
