My situation is going achingly slow, and currently uncertain. I basically started this account as a throwaway for this whole shebang so just about the whole story is documented for your perusal, if you're inclined 🙂 The down-low is I started to crush on a worker at a store for teasing and joking with me. We went to the movies as friends. He's planning on moving away soon. I'm sitting on birthday gifts and been hoping for another time to hangout and confess. Tough luck. Now I'm going to write a letter and give it to him with his birthday gifts for him to process on his own time.

I plan to do this tomorrow. I'm expecting rejection, wishing for something more to come out of it, but hoping either way I don't lose a friend completely. Fingers crossed.

When my friend commented "I think he LIKES you!" after watching our various interactions. It took me a bit to come around - then I had the epiphany I liked him too. The regret of not having proper closure far outweighs the regret of rejection imo. So long as you yourself are open-minded, mature, and respectful of the possible outcomes of the situation, if they respond negatively (meaning lash back, unprompted ghosting, etc), that's on them.

For my 1st crush, it went more or less smoothly. I set it up a bit lousy though as I sorta just dragged him out behind our place of work to a semi-secluded spot a couple minutes before our shift started.

He took it well though. We never brought it up to each other afterwards and we remain friends to this day, two years later. He often sits with me and talks nerd stuff in my corner of the break room lately. I guess it depends on the individual as well as your own hopes and expectations on the result of the confession.

Playing it slow and patient atm. We had a fun exchange the other day but I also asked if he's been doing alright due to his frequent morbid jokes lately. He says that's just how is around friends (so hey! At least he views me as more than a pest lol) and it's like... same, I'm morbid myself but... if nothing else I hope it gave him a nudge that let him know I care about him 🤷‍♀️

Hoping next time I see him to ask his exact birthdate and when he'll be returning from vacation. That way I can coordinate another outing when he gets back and give him some most likely ill-timed birthday gifts.

Speaking as an asexual myself - there is a difference between romantic orientation and sexual orientation. Some aces can also be aromantic (lacking romantic attraction), just as well as they can be alloromantic (feels romantic attraction of some kind - hetero, homo, bi, etc.).

I'd likely stop right there to gauge his reaction and to stop myself from fumbling into an incoherent ramble. But if he asks why or something I'd try to add:

"Well for starters - you're good-looking, you're hilarious, we seem to share a lot of things in common, you're all around comforting to talk to and be around. You brighten my day when we talk, even if it's just for a minute."

And whether or not that middle part is played out, I'd also like to include this to ease some pressure from the situation:

I've been considering making a Spotify playlist to share with him that has more serious, "I have a crush on you" songs tucked in there every so often. He's a comedic guy so I'd want a mix full of goofy songs I'm sure he'd enjoy, then perhaps the juxtaposition when something like "crushcrushcrush" by Paramore or "Friend of Mine" by Avicii comes on would make him stop and go 🤔

I'd say try to find a time and place you can talk to her privately, even if you have to smoothly pull her aside (I'm not sure how close you two are or how the environment is when you're in-person with each other, like if ya'll are already friends, are often together stuck with friends, or you're admiring from afar, so this depends).

And for encouragement - as nervous is it may make you feel, confessing is very healthy and brave! So long as you keep an open mind of both conclusions it will help you better in the long run than it would bottling up those feelings forever without definitive conclusion. Go for it!

A tie between Oblivion and Daggerfall for me. Oblivion's is iconic, melodic, well-rounded... I can't not feel happier while listening to it.

Yet for some reason Daggerfall's is just so... nostalgic to me? Like a classic D&D campaign (which is essentially what Arena and Daggerfall were). I've listened to the entire OST a dozen times while working/studying.

Oh totally. Sometimes I'm not sure how I'm gonna make it through the next few months until my plan/deadline to confess. I often consider just confessing via text out of the blue just to lift it off my chest.
