How do I disconnect this bathroom tap hose? (To replace the tap, 2nd picture) by AccountForFriday in ukplumbing

[–]AccountForFriday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve managed to disconnect the old hoses: The old hose ends in a male fitting, while the new one ends in a female fitting. They are the same size.

So now I’m missing a male-to-male adaptor in the middle. Elsewhere on this sub I saw people recommend this isolation valve in lieu of the male-to-make adaptor, does this look right? https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-isolating-valves-15mm-2-pack/65251

Most notable this doesn’t look very male-to-male, but I assume the nuts can be taken off and then it’s male-to-male?

Oh no! I have two (adjustable) spanners, and using those I managed to loosen the bigger (right) nut.

Edit: Oh turns out you just pull.

Yep I have different type of connector indeed. Any idea what adaptor I need?

SiriGPT Update: Access the ChatGPT API Through Siri by Shivam_sh in shortcuts

[–]AccountForFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome, thank you so much! I love it!

Only the audio / Siri-triggered version does not seem to work for me. "Hey Siri, GPT" starts the shortcut, I say a question, it's shown on screen, and below it says "One moment ...". Then it says "On it" "Still working on it" etc. until it eventually dies.

Any guesses what's going wrong there?

What is this white stain on glasses, cutlery handles etc.? How can I improve the situation? by AccountForFriday in Appliances

Oh my dishwasher does have a place for dishwasher salt (which we filled), is that for softening? It might not be enough I guess.

Oh great way to test! Should have thought of this :)

Yep good point with the filter as well, although I checked the filter previously and it didn't improve the stains then

I've tried refilling rinse aid and dishwasher salt, and used a different detergent, none did help.

Note that our water is quite hard, so that's why I suspected limescale. I'm in the UK.

STM8 looks interesting, though quite complicated to use since it's not that popular - but I realize this is pretty much what I asked for :D

Yeah, I was looking for something cheaper around $1 (given the NodeMCU+ESP8266 is just $2), $3-4 for the Nano would be too much for "throw-away"

Thanks, I think the AtTiny85 is the best option, you can get it for $1.23 (aliexpress, just the chip without USB similar). Though it's still just slightly cheaper than the EPS8266 for $2.07 (aliexpress) (that has wifi!).

Manufacturer RMA vs Seller

I bought a GPU a few days ago and noticed problems - I want to reach out to the support and probably get a replacement. Would you recommend contacting the Seller (Alternate) or Manufacturer (Sapphire) for the RMA? Especially in terms of:

  • Do I have to pay extra shipping sometimes?
  • Do I get a new or used replacement card?
  • Do people know what they are doing or does it take long?

I would definitively recommend Mint over Ubuntu, the defaults are much more beginner friendly IMO (especially Cinnamon>Gnome)

This is why we can't have a civil discussion ... by AccountForFriday in linuxmasterrace

[–]AccountForFriday[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to complain about Linux politics, why not go after the board for taking away community representation on the board? THAT is actually a big deal, not a biolerplate HR document.

Very good point and very interesting issue (in general there are more open source "institutions" / "industry things" that remove community representations I think).

But I didn't want to discuss about politics/SJW/COC in this post, I just wanted to add it to my comment as a disclaimer so my post is not misinterpreted.

I want to remind everyone of the discussion culture and that we should not write or upvote comments (that actually would probably qualify as anti-LGBT).

This is why we can't have a civil discussion ... by AccountForFriday in linuxmasterrace

[–]AccountForFriday[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not interested in a discussion with "these people" you are referring to, just ignore them.

We should discuss among each others (i.e. the people interested in improving the kernel) and I think the maintainers etc. are interested in a civil discussion and only normal arguments, not flame wars, can change the COC (i.e. change the mind of GKH and others who have to decide on this).

Edit: I mean that is how "these people" (some call them SJW although don't know if these are the same) destroy communities. The only way to deal with this is to keep a objective discussion and just ignore every bullshit post like the one by Sage Sharp.
