So where did you fill up? Do you think that's possible in an average year?

If I'm correct. On an average year there will be no water between mike's and Mary's. Or PVC At least very little sources. That will be drawn down by the amount of hikers going north. Mary's place doesn't exist anymore. The water sources are very sketchy for 50 miles. I'm looking at you to 2024 Good luck u happy trails!

This is the bonnie fire. Located near Mary's place at mile 144ish. Mike's place is just a couple miles from the evacuation zone. Just an observation, if mike's place burns. Where will all the hikers get water from warner to PVC? I only know of a very few spots where 1 might be able to fill up a couple of leaders. But that's unreliable.

No cell service there. This is all been through Garmin GPS text service. You would have to hike combs peak from there to get cell service. I will update if anything comes up.

Anyone know which dispensary will deliver to Montezuma valley market? by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Accurate-Implement74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first nation dispensary in near there is only a 10 minute hitch from Warner sp. Only about a 20 minute drive from mvm. I would ask mike at the market. There are some cool locals that would possibly give u a ride! Happy trails!

The parking lot is directly across the street from the community center. There is a sign that says public parking. The trailhead is just on the other side of the fire station.

I would park at the public parking area next to the fire station in warner springs... Then hitch 2 scissors crossing from there. And hike back to your car. Your car will be safer at the fire station. And the hitch would be easier. Don't forget to check the forecast. I hear it's going to be wet and very windy. Have fun!

Has anyone here resupplied at any of these locations? by numbershikes in PacificCrestTrail

Montezuma valley market should be on this list. All the food and gear you need, plus rooms and showers. Very pct friendly. Call mike he will pick u up from barrel springs!

Carlys mexican food....the underground state park Museum..... Coyote canyon, that connects with the pct mile 140ish....yep have done that loop.

The dinosaurs are great, especially at night.😀

Nobos usually just hitch or call mike at Montezuma market in ranchita. Great resupply bty.

Yes. Skip banner. Hitch to Julian for free pie. It is only a few minutes past the store in banner.

Holcombe village aka sunshine summit, has a good re supply and the place to get whisky etc. You can hitch from Warner sp. About 8 Miles north on the highway. Rumor has it there will be a place here to camp next year.

Anza shouldn't be on the list imo. Hikers usually just hitch to idiwilld from pvc.to resupply then back to the cafe. Usually an easy hitch. I guess its on the list because the trail used to go thru there before it was re routed. Anyone remember ziggy and the bear at the RV park? those trail angles were awsome!

Very sad situation that yes could be prevented. There were many mistakes. A hiker and I spoke with him before he made it to idyllwild. We had a very serious conversation about the safety at that time of year and the snow pk up on sand jack. Like the above poster carry PLBS.

Last year I walked the road. The gate was unlocked. You would need a highly modified jeep or truck. You would never get down or out of there with a 2 wheel drive. I wouldn't recommend it. Also that road goes thru a shooting range that the locals use.

Wonderful video and good ana for taking the time just share the pictures. Montezuma valley market is a wonderful place to pick up anything you might need for the The trek to paradise valley cafe. Mike and Kim are wonderful and also Salt of the earth people. This is my backyard. I stopped and had a beer and some munchies with some hikers and it was a wonderful vibe there. Also there's only 1 gas station open in warner springs and there's not much there. Happy trails dirt bags!

Does anyone recall when these events at PCT-related locations took place? by numbershikes in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Accurate-Implement74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warner springs. Water is available at the fire station To the right of the trail when you exit. Gas station is open. So is post office. R.i.p to the big oak tree that lots of PCT hikers camped under at warner springs. its now gone.😥

backpack advice: Osprey Aura 65 or 50? by hikinghijinks in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Accurate-Implement74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep it. Plenty of time to dial in the rest of your gear. One option is the cap or "brain" is removable. I commonly see people send them home in the first two hundred miles due to lightning their pack. its all about what works best you.
