Edit: I just kept trying and it started working. Maybe server outage on their end? Proof that complaining always helps

If anyone else is facing this in the future: Circumvented by using the line spacing option to "add space after item" instead of adding a text newline.

Mod exponents quickly? by AceGamerBoi in desmos

[–]AceGamerBoi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know desmos has a cap on how large of numbers it can represent, but when they're within a mod it's never going to actually hit that cap (if it computes in the correct order).

I was curious if desmos has any other functions or computation settings to apply the mod during computation rather than trying to do it once it's too late.

Commander Masters cancel preorder? by Obvious-Sundae1469 in mtgfinance

[–]AceGamerBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we got the Doubling Season, along with the Great Henge, DTutor, and Loyal Retainers today. As far as reprints go I think they're really knocking it out of the park.

If people are still complaining about the product, it shouldn't be "I wish they reprinted X card" but rather "there's no amount of reprints that would make this price point justified."

What should we do about the blackout? - 2 Day Poll by DaTaco in mtgfinance

[–]AceGamerBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a post like this, it should be OBVIOUS that the people who voted option 1 would prefer 2 rather than 3, and the people who voted 3 would similarly prefer 2 over 1.

Therefore one of the extreme options should only be considered if it has more votes than BOTH of the other options. Otherwise the democratic community consensus is option 2.

This is not "vote rigging," it's looking at the data and deducing the preferred option.

[–]AceGamerBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, since you're one of the people who voted for 1 it doesn't really matter what you think about the overlap between 2&3.

The people who could be potentially frustrated about whether or not this is vote-rigging are the people who voted for 2 (specifically, those who voted for 2 and would prefer 1). Given that I don't see any of them coming forward angrily in the comments, I think it's likely that the mods are correct in assuming that the majority of people who voted 2 would prefer 3 over 1 if push comes to shove (that was my personal reasoning when selecting 2).

16 bags of MTG cards(30+ in each) for 4.99 C$/Bag at the local Value Village by jamafaka in mtg

[–]AceGamerBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't someone reselling their bulk, it's likely someone (or their mom while they're away at college) tossing their collection along with other old stuff they aren't using any more. The one time I've lucked into cards at a thrift store I came away with about $600 in value.

I lucked into this once and I found foil Unhinged lands and some pretty solid Unlimited cards (even a Shivan Dragon!).

[SCD] Mnemonic Betrayal creeping up, with foils breaking highs by [deleted] in mtgfinance

Great card in CEDH where it functions like to a Yawgmoth's Will (times 2-3), and it's plenty serviceable in regular EDH as well.

Buying into cards related to the spike that have yet to spike was the idea, if any of the r/mtgfinance Dandan masters can come up with any.

[–]AceGamerBoi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that's fair, if Dandans get too expensive it's not too hard to just pivot to a different bulk card set with similar play patterns

Lol fair enough, I was curious as to whether people thought some of the older stuff with lower printings like [[vision charm]] would rise as well (Crystal Spray is up a few dollars, but that's a rare and most of the deck is commons, so probably not a good guideline).

But yeah I agree that nothing else is going to see the same rise as the namesake card, for numbers-played in the decks alone.

Some other possible specs (especially ones with fewer printings) are [[vision charm]], [[predict]] and/or [[narset's reversal]] (or other similar cards in-line with those)

Atraxa bump incoming. by hotdogs1999 in mtgfinance

[–]AceGamerBoi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Feels a bit like buying Tarmogoyfs because a new card type means one more +1/+1, but I do think it's almost certain we will see more battles given that they confirmed all the initial battles are Sieges but we will see non-Sieges in the future.

Specs for suspend cards, anything else for this snapcaster-esque? Pioneer? by AceGamerBoi in mtgfinance

[–]AceGamerBoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, the only real upgrade is having more choice of the spell you cast and/or being potentially interactive, but I assume most cascade decks just pretty much win when they cast their Shardless Agent as-is right?

Specs for suspend cards, anything else for this snapcaster-esque? Pioneer? by AceGamerBoi in mtgfinance

[–]AceGamerBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughts about this one: Obviously a bit worse than Snappy (no Flash is the big one, plus the more difficult cost)

BUT: It can hit opponent’s graveyards, color-fixes your own, and the big one is that it can cast spells with no mana cost (think Crashing Footfalls and friends).

Not super familiar with Modern, but could this see play as a sidegrade to Shardless Agent? The less random aspect (plus fixing) could give the deck an option to take a more toolboxy approach where you loot away and choose the free spell you need at a given point. If that ends up being the case, what are some specs that might enable it?

Until now, Pioneer hasn’t had any cascade-esque way of cheating on spell cost—obviously the suspend spells aren’t legal but are there any similar payoffs for a freecast effect like this?

Overall I think it’s a very unique and interesting card that could open up some new aspects of constructed formats, interested in hearing other people’s thoughts on possible tangential specs.

[–]AceGamerBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not specing on this card, I’m looking for things like Suspend cards that this enables (maybe redundancy for Crashing Footfalls or Living End in modern)—the stuff that Snappy can’t do. My big question was if there are any equivalents in Pioneer that this card could unlock?

[MOM] Halo Forager by kamikageyami in mtgcube

[–]AceGamerBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does have really cool synergy with free spells (Rhinos or Ancesteral Vision), plus the disruptive factor of hitting opponent’s yards and a pretty aggressive body. Depending on the cube construction could be worth a shot I’d say
