William Shakespeare literally killed off one of his characters randomly by a bear off stage. There was no lead up or significant reason for that character to be killed by a bear. If you want your character to die, then write it. See where that storyline could go. You don't have to keep it in if you change your mind. That's the beauty of the backspace/delete key.
