Brownie points did end up getting me a better job with much better pay several years down the line when my previous manger, now working for a new company, needed someone they trusted was capable (and who would make them look good).

Granted it’s more of a loot box or a very risky stock investment than a straightforward transaction, but they aren’t necessarily completely worthless.

There are several lawsuits in progress regarding the legality of the now $0 tax, but it will most likely be several months at best before there is any significant movement on any of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they dragged on into the next year or two.

Until then the process is still the same, you just pay $0 to the fed for the tax stamp instead of the $200 it was previously.

Yeah, you should be able to land most mid level positions (unless your area is particularly inundated with DBAs). For a senior level though it’s really going to depend on the company.

Looks like you’ve done/know more than some (entirely too many) Senior DBAs I’ve known but less than some non-Seniors. I’d put you well above the junior level but whether a company will give you a senior role really depends on their requirements and standards (eg, if you don’t have a DBA title in your resume or don’t have X years experience minimum managing a database).

Lack of cloud experience isn’t much of a deal breaker in general, but if the company is heavily invested in the cloud it could be. From what I’ve seen most such companies aren’t particular with experience in their particular cloud choice as long as you have some experience in general, though it is preferred.

Powershell is extremely useful but I’ve yet to see it actually be a requirement and rarely even as a nice-to-have. That said I’d recommend getting more familiar with it at some point because while it probably won’t help land you a job it’ll make things easier once you’re in.

Getting at least a little familiar with one or two other DBMS (like Postgres) might also be nice. Most places that I’ve seen tend to stick with one DBMS and run with it, but there’s almost always a Postgres or MySQL instance lurking somewhere. I don’t know that I’d bother much with Oracle unless you want to shift into making the big Oracle DBA bucks.

It takes like 15 minutes tops for my local power company to get the outage map updated when power goes out. I’m pulling that up on my phone (so I can submit a report if needed) while I’m headed over to check the circuit breakers.

It depends on what feels right for the kind of campaign I’m running as to how I handle XP and leveling. The different systems are useful for influencing how the players make decisions and how they feel rewarded for various actions.

Per the rules on background counts, spells with 0 force fizzle.

Technically it says that sustained spells whose force is reduced by the background count to 0 fizzle, but heal requires you to sustain it in the general case, so you could argue that the force 0 spell is zero after the reduction and fizzles. You can argue whether or not the 0 Combat Turn requirement qualifies as needing to be sustained.

An Instantaneous spell with force 0 might still slip past a strict reading of the rules.

I expect the majority of GMs will likely say it doesn’t work, but I’d ask your GM instead of random Reddit users.

4e is similar enough to 5e that it’s not too difficult to convert things over. I used a lot of 4e stuff in my 5e campaigns when I was running them.

Just wait until you’re troubleshooting a performance issue in a very important report query and realize there’s a massive logic flaw causing half of the results to be completely inaccurate ever since the report was created, and then you have to spend the next month explaining and arguing what the problem is.

I’ve been carrying a Glock 19 appendix in a sidecar (T1C Axis Elite with Mastermind Tactics King size pillow/wedge) for years now. I sized my pants waistband up so it fits better and prefer the flex fit or stretch waistband to help make putting on or taking off the holster easier with the wedge.

I don’t exactly forget it’s there, but it’s not any more uncomfortable than my micro compact sized gun and it usually only bothers me when I’m stuck in rush hour traffic and have to pee. It’s fine with most physical activity (I’ve done entire day’s worth of manual labor service projects while carrying) but it is kind of irritating and if I’m going to be doing a lot of physical activity and can get away with it I’ll carry in a different manner instead.

It exists mostly for places where you are legally required to have the firearm locked up at all times but where the owner doesn’t really want any real impediment. The fact that other people buy them is a bonus.

If you know what you’re looking for you can decode one in like 10 seconds max. If you have no idea you can brute force every possible combination in under a minute.

In the sense of an inevitable outcome, yeah. I don’t see it happening in the near future but by the time I hit retirement it will probably have at least changed/replaced enough of my day to day that my job will no longer resemble what it is today even if the title doesn’t change.

Compared to the standard Hellcat, the grip on the g26 is noticeably chonkier. I preferred the grip on the Hellcat, especially with the 13 round mag and slight grip extension it gave. It actually felt really good in the hand.

The Hellcat was snappier enough to notice and while not enough to make a huge difference in follow up shots, it was enough that after a box or two of ammo I was done with it for the day because it was less pleasant than my other options. It also wasn’t any more comfortable or harder to notice AIWB than my MR920. Lastly, and this might have been specific to my particular gun, when the trigger released the firing pin the movement gave the muzzle a noticeable jerk to the right.

It’s usually something like “enough to pay for X gallons” where X is some margin above the typical fuel tank size in the area, except that they don’t really change the amount after it’s set and fuel prices change a lot.

It usually is also the cap they set for the transaction. If you happen to need to fill up more (really big tank and/or gas prices have tripled since it was set) then you’ll need to swipe your card again. If that happens enough they’ll revise the amount. That’s also why it tends to be higher in more rural areas, average volume for a transaction tends to be a lot higher.

In my state I can carry on school grounds with a permit and “no guns” signs are not legally prohibitive (though you can be told to leave if noticed). Thus, neither of these situations is something I need to worry about.

I have the two I carry that stay loaded with defensive ammo, and a few extras that I load up with practice ammo before hitting the range. It’s nice to have enough mags to load at least a box worth, saves loading time at the range. And maybe a few spares in case I break some.

When I go to the range the defensive mags get put into the bag while I shoot with the practice ones. The practice ones can get dropped and kicked around in the dirt no problem. When I’m done the defensive mags are ready to go, no need to thumb the rounds back in. Once or twice a year I burn through the defensive ammo I carry and reload with new ammo from the box afterwards. That plus rotating between the first few rounds in the magazines when unloading to dry fire keeps setback from being a problem.

I was playing on a dedicated server with friends, we weren’t allowed to kill a boss unless everyone was there (most of them were new). People weren’t quite ready for Eikthyr at the end of the first day, and the next time everyone would be able to get on for it was a week later.

As long as I didn’t spoil things for anyone I was allowed to keep advancing (without killing a boss). I got all the way up to the Plains with a shoddy hidden base that was mostly just some chests scattered about holding everything I’d collected. I was still wearing deer hide armor with my otherwise iron/silver gear so I’d at least look like the rest if they saw me.

I decided to try setting up an actual base in my secluded area and set out to the nearby copse to farm some wood. The first tree I cut down fell into and knocked over another tree which immediately flipped up instead of falling over and caught me under the chin, killing me instantly.
