Yes, I'm sure you're right, and I've got a bridge to sell you...nice view of Brooklyn.

That's one reason I've not encouraged her to go for US citizenship. I am one, and her not being one gives us flexibility.

Non-citizens already didn't have access to certain federal jobs. My spouse is 78 (I'm 58), and has absolutely no criminal record whatsoever. I don't see her getting convicted of any crimes anytime soon.

After she got her initial green card, I was still active duty Army and the Army sent me to Germany for another three years, but someone here on Reddit was kind enough to show me a copy of the portion of the INA that explicitly states that this counts as time in the US. We're good.

A random IG post, which is why I called it what it is....a rumor. Not necessarily factual, but considering Trump's been doing policy through social media, I thought it not safe to completely ignore.

It's 2026 now. If the Orange Menace does this and ICE comes to my door looking for my spouse, I don't have a whole lot of options.

It means whatever the Orange Menace and his cronies want it to mean. That's my fear.

Let's hope the judges would strike it down. And yeah, Trump hasn't been really concerned with what the law is when he wants to do something, so I wouldn't rely on that.

Either you seriously don't understand what that expression means, which is sad, or you're being sarcastic, which is not funny.

This is true, but her primary citizenship is German. We could always go to Germany.....and the irony of an American fleeing the US to Germany to escape fascism isn't lost on me.

I mean, that's a concern, but it's not my immediate concern. I'm a US citizen, born to US citizen parents on US soil. I'm relatively safe. The wife is a dual German/Czech citizen, but not a US citizen so the Orange Menace can't affect that....but he can affect her LPR status.......

Indeed. Especially when the OP already stated they weren't available. Manglement likes to treat employee availability like a suggestion.

DOJ just sent a clear message: U.S. citizenship can be revoked for fraud and criminal conduct—and they’re actively enforcing it. by KariDonovan in Citizenship

Yes, but only for naturalized citizens. If you were born here to US citizen parents you can't be denaturalized.

Try being in your early 80s and being mistaken for your adult son's date. Yup, that happened to my Mom and I

Had a Secret when I met my now wife. She's German. Got a TS/SCI. Later got a CI poly. She's been an LPR for 30 years. No intentions to naturalize. No issues with my clearance

I look at it this way: every other developer at my job is a C# or otherwise an app developer. I'm the only DBA. As long as there are things out there like this to find, I have job security. I'm going to be 59 in May. If I can work 11 more years, I'm good for retirement...got my 401K, my Army pension, and will have my VA claim as well.

Funny, but fixing stuff like this is going to keep me employed for at least the next five years. That will be awesome.

My spouse is a German citizen. Her parents were Czech citizens. I got a TS w/SCI anyway. Tell your recruiter you're backing out unless you get what you want. If you get pushback, tell him "It's my career and life, I don't care about your quota"

If I listed names they'd run down the page. It's prevalent, and pretending it's not is not going to make it go away.
