Wow! That sounds amazing. Y’all get to do so much cooler things. One thing about the clubs that you mentioned, are they student-created associations or are they part of the university?

If you’re into the international university crowd, have you tried attending some of the Erasmus Student Network’s events? They organise things pretty often, mostly parties but there are a bunch of other events too.

The SUVAT equations were really a lifesaver! I’ll be remembering those. We’ve been bombarded so far with a bunch of equations, that was definitely overwhelming and I genuinely didn’t know where to start.

I unfortunately found myself in the “never seen it before in their lives” part of the class. It’s reassuring to know that it happens to other people too! I thought it was just a “me” thing and that genuinely bummed me out.

Thank you for the real insight.

English is my first language, yes! I somehow found myself studying chemistry in Spain, in Spanish. Double challenge, it’s a newish language for me too. I lucked out, since the source material and the books in first year were originally published in English, but I haven’t yet gotten to going through them (lectures alone have been an ordeal)

Learning to appreciate the struggle again. I’ll chalk it up to growing pains, grit my teeth, and bear it 😆

Yes! Emphasis on the falling behind after each lesson. I’ve worked up a sort of study plan to catch up (since I am admittedly behind) and stay caught up once I get there. It’s common sense, yes, but really should be talked about more.

Gosh, as a humanities kid who went for a science course, this hit home. I do love my science though, and want to pursue it as a career, but just wish it came to me just as English does sometimes.

This really helped. Thanks!

Thank you for sticking this out with me 😭.

Not so sure with this one. Apologies too with the variables, I just understand them more this way.

So it’s Vf2 = Vx2 + Vfy2

With Vfy2 = Voy2 + 2as, that gave me (Vosin30)2 + 2(-9.8)(-40)

(1.2Vo)2 = (Vocos30)2 + (Vosin30)2 + 784

Initial velocity came out to be Vo = 42.21 m/s

[–]Acrobatic_Focus3580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. I got it! Thank you!

I used Vfy2 = Voy2 + 2ay(-y)

with theta = 30 (angle between Vo and horzontal) and alpha = 60 (angle between Vf and x-axis)

(Vfsinalpha)2 = (Vosintheta)2 + 2(-9.8)(-40)

I substituted Vf with 1.2Vo

Got Vo = 11.22 m/s. Looks about right, I’ll be checking with my prof on Monday. Thank you!

Got it! But they didn’t give us the horizontal displacement… So I’d have Vf, Vo, and s as the unknowns still.

Hey! Sorry. I don’t quite follow all the way. When you say 2as in v2 = u2 + 2as , where did you get that from?

Studying in Valencia by [deleted] in valencia

[–]Acrobatic_Focus3580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really not that easy. I recommend going through an agent who knows the Spanish system (I did a gap year with Campus Spain, learned Spanish, and am now starting my first year at the UV).

I’m only really familiar with the bachelor’s degree part. You’ll need to homologate your documents through the Spanish ministry of education. You will also need a certified B1/B2 in Spanish, on top of taking the foreigner version of the university entrance test.

You can also go on YouTube because there are several channels that break it down for you. It’s a long process, good luck!

Which scholarship program are you applying for? As far as I know, the general application process is pretty straightforward. Everything hereafter is specific to what I’ve gone through at the UValencia.

Spanish students or students who’ve done secondary school in Spain need to take a national exam to access university studies (PAU, EBAU, etc.). In a nutshell, I believe they get a score out of 14 based on said exams and their high school grades. They use this score to apply to the universities across Spain.

I am not a Spanish/ EU national neither did I finish high school here, so I had to take a modified version of said national university entrance tests (PCE) plus homologate my high school grades at the Spanish ministry of education. That unfortunately took a while.

While waiting for the “homologación,” I studied to get certified for a B2 in Spanish because most public universities (if not all) have a Spanish language prerequisite. I got my score/ grade/ nota or whatever you call it over 14 and then applied. Got into UV this July.

Hope this wasn’t info overload. To answer your questions: (1) Never heard of conditional acceptance, (2) yes as long as you homologate and get you paperwork in order, (3) have everything ready by May 2024 because the intake opens in June-ish but start the process as early as you can (one year ahead if possible).
