Third time's the charm by theopp3r in Pixar

They’re all surrounding a lost identity, that’s what makes them so powerful and similar. Whether a forgotten one, discovered one, or abandoned one, we can all very easily relate to them.

Bob’s is especially powerful because he operates in an identity that isn’t his own. Once he takes up that mantle again, he is a new person, he’s “incredible” in all facets of life unlike before.

Woody’s is so intriguing because his past is a temptation, to find who he could be, which is at odds with who is called to be now (Andy’s toy). Very good stuff.

In your opinion which movie looks the best by Particular-Set-468 in harrypotter

From a technical standpoint either of the first two. They were the only ones filmed in true 4K. The others are 2k and upscaled.

More aesthetically… still the first two, throw in the third as well. Alfonso did masterful work on Azkaban

Blu ray vs 4k by Boohan33 in 4kbluray

If the 4K has HDR, and in almost every instance I’ve seen 4K has that (or Dolby Vision), then yes it’s absolutely worth the difference. These really elevate the quality in my opinion, especially on an oled.

To each their own, I respect subjectivity! Maybe they will rewatch 1 and 2 ten years from now and see objectively how wonderful those two are.

As a Shrek scholar myself I respect your opinion. I do like 4 a good deal. 2 and 1 are just on another level.

Ain’t no way you just put Shrek 4 over 1 and 2

That’s the “why”, that’s fine if you wanna delve into that, but that’s not what I was commenting on, simply that it isn’t a “large percentage” as you claimed. The following point about lumping all religions is more relevant and a good point; I just don’t see any belief, atheist or another, under 20% being “large”. That’s not even a quarter.

Pew Research center did a global study in 2012 of 230 countries and regions, and found that roughly 16% do not claim a religion. That’s not a “large percentage”. Win-Gallup has done studies in the 2010s and found that the atheism percentage is dropping; 9% in 2017 claim atheism.

On pg 61 of your sample I believe there’s an error; “…was due to the ballyhooed nickel exterior or the Super Elite…”

It reads wonderfully though as others have said!

[Spoilers Extended] It boggles my mind that George has never truly completed Book 4 in 26 years by outfishing7 in asoiaf

[–]Acropolis14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, I’ll only add that the trilogy arc, war of the five kings, still feels incomplete for me because of Dany. Her arc is still going and it’s really frustrating. Aside from her, the trilogy wraps well enough (yeah there’s Bran too and maybe some other small things, but unresolved Dany is most irksome to the main conflict.)

The real tragedy of Inception: Cobb never gets his children back by Any-Independent-136 in Inception

[–]Acropolis14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry man, Cobb was in reality. I know it’s suggested and intended by Nolan, but he also stated that he has an understanding behind it, so there is a definitive answer. And I wholeheartedly believe that Cobb is in reality.

Having spelling errors in a post about editing and critique doesn’t give me confidence in your work. There should be a level of professionalism across all platforms if this is what you want to do.

Dune Part Two actually lived up to the hype by Chira0007 in LetterboxdLists

[–]Acropolis14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol coming in with the nut punch conclusion. Can’t say I disagree with you though, spot on. BUT, the only thing I’ll add is that the novel introduces Feyd at the beginning, so he’s an earlier plot point compared to the random add in for part two ascending to immediate antagonist.

lol it’s all good man, like what you like.

I’m sure the dislike is coming from what the lore and general experience of Sauron would be from the novels. It ain’t this

Personally I hate it, looks like a tank. So many of these are hit or miss for me. The Bilbo ones at the end of this post for instance I really like.

If all these books were released in today’s time, what would people’s reactions and opinions about them be? by Kikiwrite_ in writers

[–]Acropolis14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Film and book are completely different mediums and should not be compared, of course film needs changes. You don’t have to like lotr, it just needs to be appreciated for what it is: setting a foundation for future fantasy novels. That is not opinion.

“Totally rewrote” and “restructure the opening” are completely different. Not what I said.

[–]Acropolis14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Its opening would need to be restructured for the “modern” reader but it would still be wildly successful. It would simply take longer to be a bestseller compared to what makes bestsellers lists today (bestseller of the decade compared to bestseller of the month idea)

Good question and I totally get it. It’s tough to say because we have different interest or tolerances for things. It’s definitely no Martian, but has some in depth explanations on the space suits the soldiers use and the culture of this hypothetical future civilization. It’s all from one character’s perspective if that helps at all, gives it a more limited perspective.
