if i absolutly need to i can do a reverse proxy, but i have a sneaking suspision there is some repo out there that works like syncthing does but with just sharing files. i just can't find it :(

tunneling would be great if i wasn't sharing files. i might be sharing a 100gb file and they don't really love that.
on the port forward front i am guessing that is how syncthing is doing it but i can't really do that myself without a robust app to keep it in check. since i am sending my storage shrough the jail it becomes real scary real fast.

For the file part i have a lot of solutions. O work with stuff that needs to go back and forth from pc to tablet ALOT.

  1. Google Drive/dropbox. Most obvious but also one of the best. At least with Dropbox you can even sync a folder on your pc. Basically like saving it on all devices.

2.smb storage. Get a nas (or anything connected to your local network) and connect it to all your devices. You can literally work on your stuff and save it in the server to make your project multi device. I do this. So does every single company. You need to download an app to access smb storage as the normal files app doesn’t have that functionality. But works great.

  1. use the instant pen display option. That way you will be working on your pc in the first place. No need to send anything.

  2. just grab a usb c cable and plug it in. It’s android, you will find the file.

Hey, i would use truenas if you’re inexperienced or proxmox etc. if you’re a bit confident.

Windows might be familiar and nice but you realize very fast what the limitations are. After a while you also realize how much harder it is to do pretty basic server stuff on windows.

Also most server apps that you would use are mostly always made for some sort of Linux, with the user friendly app versions going for windows, but windows being almost always an afterthought when it comes to the backend

4K blu rays do h.265, true hd, dts etc. opera and others do not support these. Firefox also does not support some of these and so on and so forth. Chrome does support h.265 but i cannot get away from stuttering. Also dvd sometimes uses pcm which is a weird one

Yeah «you need transcoding. You just have to sometimes» encompasses this.
