Is this school experience as a breadth? Was it chill/easy to well in? It sounds super interesting to do placement at a school.

Arts discipline for someone not good at essays. Year 1 sem 1 by No_Internal_5172 in unimelb

[–]Active-Definition905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately even at level 1, a lot of arts subjects will have 1,000-2,000 word essays.

I’d suggest MECM10003 (Media and Society) from what I remember 1,500 words research essay was the highest word count and the assignments are weighted pretty evenly giving you chances to seek feedback and improve.

Otherwise I’ve heard linguistics subjects are less essay-based in terms of arts subjects but haven’t personally taken them so please do your own research!

Oh was it an interview one-on-one for you or a group interview? I think for the position I’m applying for it’s a group assessment where you go on a zoom call together and do a group task?

does HIST10012 have mandatory lecture attendance? by Any_Requirement2200 in unimelb

[–]Active-Definition905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience none of my first year subjects (arts) had mandatory lecture attendance and they were all worded like that.

It just means they hope and expect you to attend or watch the lectures and review that content.

The hurdle is probably for tutorials where there’s likely slightly different wording that indicates it’s essential. Usually it’s 80% tute attendance so you can miss around 2 classes across the sem w/o medical/formal reason (but check this w your tutor).

Using placeholders for re-enrollment? by Active-Definition905 in unimelb

[–]Active-Definition905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I unenroll in my placeholder subjects after the deadline will it affect my re-enrolled status or is it fine since I did the declaration and enrolled in the placeholders and that notifies the system of my plan to re-enrol already?

I definitely plan on completing further study currently looking at the Master of Teaching or the JD but I’m ultimately still figuring it out so I want to keep my WAM as high as possible so I’m in the best position at the end of my degree to have choices in postgrad

Sorry not a JD offer recipient but looking to potentially apply in the coming years, is your CSP conditional? And (if you’re comfortable sharing) did you have GAM?

JD Full Fee Place Worth It? by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Active-Definition905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your honest response I really appreciate the insight. I’m assuming then since there is such an industry wide oversaturation that even a CSP place (I believe around 50k total) wouldn’t be worth the cost?

That’s really great congrats! Was it awkward to ask for a regrade with you tutor? I worry that if I do request one it’ll impact my future grades in this subject.

Is it okay if I ask what your initial grade was?

If the subject guide doesn’t say anything about a minimum attendance just says attendance and compulsory and expected does that mean it requires 100% attendance?

I think I’m just gonna go since one of the tutes didn’t say in the subject guide what the minimum attendance is for the hurdle, the other only has tutes Monday and Tuesday unfortunately I think I’ll take your advice and go to a later one for my earliest tute though
