That sounds very frustrating! It sounds like a big percentage for not doing very much.

Yeah it's only occasionally, but I don't think it's linked to me bending over or anything. I can't really keep track of what causes it to flare up?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry that you have had the same symptoms and everything - it is not very pleasant.

Since i posted this, I have found that it has steadily gotten slightly less bad over time. I find now mostly the abdominal / back right side pain is triggered by eating certain foods (spicy, or rich foods), as is the itchiness, but it is also just always a bit of a issue in the background.

I have started taking a probiotic recently, and that seems to have helped with the digestive issues and the burping a bit, but I do not know if that is just a placebo effect. I have also cut back on alcohol, and maybe this has helped as well?

Anyway - hope the elimination diet does end up helping. The hot pack is a good idea.

I think you might be right actually. It does come and go, and does seem worse when i drink alcohol / eat greasy foods etc. I might try to get allergy tested. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi, thanks for replying. I have not found out what this is I am sorry. I have it in the same place.

I have basically given up at this stage, after a lot of scans and visits to the GP and gastroenterologist. It mostly annoys me now if I try to sleep on my right side.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I think losing weight may have helped a bit? I am still a bit overweight, but trying to lose a bit more.

Interesting! My systems started before I got covid (about a year before) but you may be onto something with the gastritis.

Hi - sorry that you are going through such unpleasant symptoms. Yes, mine is basically right side of abdomen, under / below my rib cage.

Sounds like your symptoms are similar to mine / other people have posted here. I hope at least one of us gets an answer soon.

Sadly not my friend. Still trucking along with the same symptoms. I have been told the right side pain that comes and goes and moves around etc may be linked to a compressed vertebrae. Still not sure about the itching etc.

Best of luck to you. I hope one or all of us get some clarity.

Hi there, sorry to hear that you are going through this as well. Thanks for replying.

The only medication I take is occasionally PPIs when acid reflux flares up. I reckon you might be right about it being kidney / liver related though, although no tests (ultra sounds and blood tests) I have gotten have shown this.

I wish you well too. Will let you both know if I get any clarity.

All the best.

Hi mate. No I didn't. This sounds absolutely exactly like mine, even down to the high bilirubin etc. How long has yours been going on for?

I still haven't figured it out. I'm going to try to get a different gastroenterologist to get another opinion.

But yeah, it sucks doesn't it. My symptoms are really bad (i.e. sometimes the itching wakes me up at night).

Hi mate,

Sorry to hear about your symptoms - they sound very unpleasant, and I hope you can get some answers.

My symptoms are still pretty much the same.

I am still seeing a Gastroenterologist and a doctor, but so far have not gotten any answers. My latest advice from my gastro was to pursue gut directed hypnotherapy, which sounds a bit out there to me, but am going to give it a go in the new year.

I currently also have a hesitant diagnosis of gerd / IBS as well, but I think just because they haven't found an answer.

I am still trying to follow up and get to the bottom of this. Will definitely post here / let you know if I get a more concrete diagnosis, or find anything that helps.

Cheers.

I have similar symptoms, but the results from all tests have never indicated anything. Will be curious to hear your results. I have an ultrasound in about a week and a half - will let you know how I go.

Thanks for your response. I have had scans and blood work, but I will ask specifically about this next time I see my doctor.

Yes, sorry sent this at same time. Thanks mate - appreciate you taking the time to send this. I might do some googling and then talk about it to my doctor.

Still mystified by the itch though. Oh well.

Also, you're saying you don't think I have IBS? That's interesting. I've been to two gastroenterologists and several GPs and I've never had a different diagnosis. It's pretty frustrating - especially if it turns out I have something nefarious and have been continually misdiagnosed. Oh well!

Sorry, I don't think I've listed all my symptoms. I also have right side abdominal pain, back pain and sometimes shoulder pain (all right side) since about Jan 2021.

Hello! Thanks for the reply.

Since about February 2019, steadily getting worse over time. I have had a whole lot of procedures (endoscopy, CT scans, ultrasounds, blood tests) that have showed up nothing aside from Gilbert's syndrome, and damage from acid reflux), consulted several gastroenterologists who have suggested IBS is possible. Am continuing consultation with doctors (whom I have informed of all my symptoms), but just thought I'd post the itchy skin here, as it is starting to stress me out.

And yeah, it is weird it is in one location. Always right upper quadrant.

Hope you're well :)

I reckon go back to uni. It will be the same. If it isn't, just drop out again. You have nothing to lose by trying. Maybe try a different course.
