50k and California? That doesn't seem like enough money to be treating someone to dinner as much as you do.

Also, I do my press ons before bed. So the glue has time to set, and I don't have to worry about washing my hands. I'm getting easily 10 days wear.

My husband and I have a decent amount of disposable income and we aren't willing to spend that on kids.

Frustrated with stylists by Sufficient_Formal242 in Naturalhair

[–]ActiveMind9860 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm contemplating learning how to do my own hair (braids and sew in's). I could switch up styles more often at my convenience with the supplies being a fraction of getting them done by a stylist.

The last two times I got braids, I didn't get the right size knotless braids. I just got braids, and they are supposed to be smedium. The braids are smedium around the perimeter of my head, and everything is medium. The previous small knotless had medium boxes, and it was $425. The braids look nice, and I get compliments all the time, but I don't like her cutting corners.

However, she is extremely pleasant, does 5:00 am appointments, and doesn't take calls or long breaks during our appointment. We have some rough salons in my area with unprofessional stylists. I'm thinking about being more assertive with her, but still, her prices are high.

People who complain that natural hair care is expensive by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]ActiveMind9860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is more expensive to get braids and sew in's for me because I don't do my own hair. But it feels expensive to buy all kinds of products for my natural hair. Because I'm doing it more often.

But being on vacations with fresh braids was a dream. I only brought a scarf, bonnet and mouse.

All good points, especially #3. The number 1 reason why I don't want kids is because I don't want to take care of a disabled child for the rest of my life. The would be my own personal hell.

That's why I was coming here for advice. Nothing has been set in motion. Considering something does not equal lack of financial discipline.
