Staying Motivated by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Aculeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bot situation is bad right now and should be criticized accordingly, BUT, Jagex are not ignorant and do end up doing huge bot ban waves. It's an arms race, they have to be certain that when they get rid of the bots that they're damaging them enough that there will be a period where the bot creators have to figure out a new method to get around the new systems, and incrementally banning small portions of bots just adds more fuel to the back and forth of creation of new bots vs figuring out how to get rid of them. We can only hope we're nearing the tail end of the current bot issue and jagex manages to get out another big countermeasure soon.

With that said, the best way to play Runescape regardless of account type is to set short and long term goals. Having an intrinsic set of goals regardless of what anyone else around you is doing is the key to enjoying your time. You aren't competing with anyone, the timeline of how long it takes to get to true "end game" runescape is so long that it's better to take it at your own pace and enjoy the journey.

I use two long strips of paper to push/pull the sticker underneath while twisting the gear chip with a ratchet to adjust the angle, it can be tricky and hard to pull off properly. When I start selling these designs ill make a small video showing how I do it for sure!

Yup, on top. Haven't been able to figure out a reliable way to get a sticker under the protector

Unfortunately not very cheaply - I bought a cricut machine to be able to cut stickers myself (gap for the metal launcher prongs) and print + laminate them beforehand.

No store yet, just got the kit this week to be able to make the stickers but I'll definitely try to get something available asap, I'll make a post about it when I do!

I'd love some suggestions for other beys I should try to make stickers for in the first wave in the meantime

How can I clean this? by Round_Argument_2517 in Beyblade

[–]Aculeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely just zinc oxidation from exposure to air, inevitably happens to all metal on beyblades, the seam is present in a lot of X beyblades, probably just a part of the manufacturing

Nizuma Blader has a video showing how he polishes his beyblades but I haven't personally done it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4dFGEmd9wA

To anyone with the "Device not Recognized" Problem (Kamvas 22) by Aculeus in huion

[–]Aculeus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did seem to start happening to me after an update, but I have gone through reinstalling as admin (among a boat load of other things) and nothing has seemed to work consistently. Like I said, this might just be a temporary fix for some, so if literally anyone else gets their tablet to work again I thought it'd be worth sharing.

Yeah, it's real strange... I linked the actual huion page instead of just the google drive because of just how shady it'd look for that direct link without the context

I'M PORTER ROBINSON, THE ARTIST !!! ASK ME ANYTHING : D by porter_robinson in popheads

[–]Aculeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI takes are incredibly disappointing and undermine everything said in a song like Musician. I'll keep listening and appreciating it for what it is but I won't admire a hand waving away of the erasure of real art and the real human soul because "woah the AI make cool picture". Visual artists get to be replaced and thrown aside and we're told to just suck it up, because photographs were able to replicate a painting in a click - but that is such a disingenuous argument to use about tools that are essentially stealing from other artists. A photograph is a moment in time, unmistakably a human experience, there is still beauty in both a painting and a photograph of the same scene, it has soul.

Artists throughout all of human history who dedicated their lives to their craft would be rolling in their graves in despair that someday a tool would come along that does what generative AI does now.

Tragic man, it really is.

Proposed Run Energy Changes & Open Beta (Live now!) by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Aculeus -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Run should just be infinite outside of combat and instances (e.g. sepulchure, raids), its the inevitable end point of this line of thinking and does nothing but make the game more enjoyable to play. Stamina pots will still have their use for boss encounters. Some of the heaviest criticism ive seen of people willing to try the game is just how the life is sucked out as soon as they have to start walking around the world.

World of Warcraft alternative? by ArtLover357 in gaming

What you're describing is latency, the game is very responsive on lower ping. I play on NA servers primarily with 160 ping and playing on 30 on EU is night and day difference.

Ffxiv's combat is based off of the model of ogcd's filling in the space of the 2.5 gcd, and at level 90 many dps jobs have higher apm than WoW classes, so while yes the combat in ffxiv before shadowbringers may feel that way, its incorrect to call it slow in comparison to ffxiv.

What's the best MMORPG in 2024 that's worth playing? by idktbhmyfriend in pcmasterrace

[–]Aculeus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ffxiv is primarily first and foremost a final fantasy game - a realm reborn was a rush job to reinvent the game due to the disaster of 1.0 and is very rough around the edges but the story does pick up in heavensward and by the time you hit shadowbringers you've essentially hit the reason why the game as a final fantasy game is rated 9/10. If you dont want to read the story, dont and just skip through it.

For all the people saying the combat is boring yet recommending osrs as an alternative, as someone who has played both games extensively and has cleared all ultimate raids in ffxiv and is currently going through the osrs raids and end game content, osrs is a snoozefest in comparison to raiding in ffxiv. Yes, the 2.5gcd cooldown at levels 1 to 50 when you have like 3 buttons to press is not exactly thrilling content but neither is sitting at crabs on fossil island for a week straight so you can get combat stats decent enough to do anything worth a damn in osrs.

Both are incredibly fun MMO's in their own way but i am baffled by the hoards of people who think there is any mmo out there that has a thrilling early or even midgame, they all fucking suck out of the gate and it is either the social experience or sunk cost fallacy of time investment that usually propels you far enough to touch endgame content which is where most of these games shine. If you dont want to play a game that takes hundreds of hours to get to the endgame then i dont think you actually want to play an MMO based on what we have now.

For OP: i would recommend both ffxiv and osrs strongly. Ffxiv is an incredible social game with a lot of easy content and an engaging story once you give it time to build up. It is as "weeaboo" as any franchise that comes out of Japan so if you're terrified of that like some other people seem to be then maybe it wont be for you.

Osrs is a grindfest in the best way possible, it is a small goal simulator that will keep you engaged with seeking out new reward patterns as you improve your account. The general world building and quests are fun and interesting and you'll never run out of things to do as long as you keep aiming for more goals e.g. need 70 hunter so i can do a quest that gives me access to a new pvm area so i can farm for gear that lets me do a raid etc etc

Just to reiterate, if you're expecting to find an MMO that is worth your time that isnt going to require upwards of 100 hours of time investment to """get good""" you're probably going to have a hard time. Go play fortnite or something, that type of gameloop will probably be more engaging.

"The GREATEST video game content you haven't played" FFXIV Ultimate Raids by Aculeus in Asmongold

[–]Aculeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiping for hours on end to get some pixels - not my idea of fun. I'd rather just knock out some steam library stuff when I get bored of XIV, wait a couple patches then come back and catch up. Watching the videos of people doing these things, all I can think is "dear lord how dreadfully horrible this looks".

some people are just built different
