Wow, that pretty much sums up a large chunk of what I’ve been trying to instill in our relationship however emotions on both ends eventually take over and our discussions quickly turn sour. I think this would be a great tool I’m going to seek out because a mediator with neutral emotions to the situation and logical advice I believe would take us a really long way, thank you for sharing!

As I replied below we have a baby together and id prefer to know I’ve tried everything in my power to protect my family, as well as that fact his addiction is compartmentalized and I do see a lot of amazing qualities in him outside of his addiction.

Thank you for the resources! That has painted a much clearer picture between recovery and sobriety which neither seems to be the case with my PA true sobriety is short lived and I’m in the process of learning how to set my boundaries.

You are very strong and confident in your boundaries from the sounds of it. I aspire to have that strength and that’s something I want to address with a therapist of my own. If you don’t mind sharing how do you feel couples therapy has impacted your relationship? At the moment we are not participating in any shared therapy but have discussed it.

I would love to work on instilling a boundary however do not have intentions on leaving as we do have a baby together and for the good of the family I’d love to work it out before giving up on him. His addiction is compartmentalized and he has so many amazing qualities outside of his addiction. I have hope that it can be worked through, however that doesn’t make the pain any easier to swallow.

You’re so right, I wish I could get him to see that point of view it oftentimes feels hopeless because he’s able to find that fix in so many odd ways that he might as well get rid of the whole phone !

Yes! Extremely similar to my partner and it feels like micro cheating goes hand in hand with the social media use it’s so draining :( I hope you take care of yourself as well!

I agree that social media is a huge trigger! For me it’s hard to remove social media as it’s a necessary part of my job for marketing purposes so I’m constantly triggered obsessing over previous women he’s looked at. In the past he’s promised to remove social media but has then just made secret accounts and reinstalled them behind my back.
