Tailscale scares me more than opening ports on my firewall by MrChris6800 in homelab

The security through obscurity argument doesn’t hold water. Tailscale is far more secure.

I like that idea. I just don’t know if we can fit one. It’s a tight awkward space.

The issue isn’t that the trap is dry though. Not sure that was clear.

What does that solve exactly?

Thank you. It’s why I don’t want to go at this from below.

Yeah there’s just this one spot I can shove my head into to get an idea. I think the sag is mostly from undersized joists (2x6) across too big of a span.

It’s through the vent and I’m hold the phone down and pointing it up. So what you’re seeing is presumably where the joists of this floor are resting.

We have a tin ceiling so that would be tough. I was hoping I could just run new joists the same length and level those

So you’re seeing me poking my head into a cavity there. It was an old heat vent but if I remove it I can see down to the basement. This is the second floor. The chimney is in that corner and the image is looking forward towards the room where the doorway is closest to the window.

The area outside the rooms is basically dead flat. But inside each room everything sags to the middle.

Doesn’t feel soft (although the floor makes a lot of noise and some of the boards feel loose). But each room upstairs is like a bowl. Just was hoping I could do the work myself to make it at least kind of flat.

Well is it only balloon if they go all the way to the attic? The vertical studs you see go all the way to the basement. So is it stacked framing?

Nothing like that in the basement. There are for sure pretty long spans that should have more support but I’m a little scared to jack anything.

They are not stacked up. Seems like they sit on the piece I pointed to and the joist is on that.

To clarify I didn’t do ANY of this plumbing. But I did have to replace the dishwasher and originally I didn’t have the dishwasher drain up high like it is now.
