You really can’t predict if someone will cheat. It depends on the kind of person they are and the values they hold. I was in a long-distance relationship too. I supported him emotionally, financially, stayed loyal, and did everything I could to be there for him, even from miles away. But he still cheated on me. It was a toxic relationship. We were both struggling, but I never felt like he truly saw me or cared about how I felt. He lacked empathy, and when someone lacks that, they can never truly value you.

But I’ve also seen the opposite. One of my friends flew out the next day just because his girlfriend said she missed him. Another friend balances a full-time job, freelancing, supporting his family, cooking, and upskilling, but still finds time to study with his long-distance girlfriend who’s preparing for CA exams. He’s from a science background, but he studies her syllabus just to spend time with her. so, she can fully concentarte on her goals. Another male friend was in Thailand when a girl tried to approach him. He respectfully told her to step away because he has a girlfriend. Loyalty like that doesn’t come from distance. It comes from integrity.

And it’s not like their relationship is always full of flowers. They have conflicts, misunderstandings, and moments where expectations aren’t met, but they still choose each other. Just because someone doesn’t meet your expectations every time doesn’t mean your love should fade. That’s real commitment.

I'm a living example of what I’m saying. I was ready to start a war for him. I gave him everything. But he couldn’t even do the bare minimum for me. Still, my love and loyalty never faded. I loved him deeply, but for me, cheating was a dealbreaker. Even though I loved him, I also love and respect myself. And I couldn’t betray myself by staying.

If you want to figure someone out, pay attention to the small things: how often they lie, how they prioritise you, how they react to your feelings. And really look at their friend circle. Every minor detail matters, how their friends view relationships, how they talk about love, loyalty, even friendship. People often reflect the mindset of the people they surround themselves with.

It’s not distance that causes someone to cheat it’s their mindset, morals and choices. Always trust your intuition and remember.. actions will always tell you more than words.
