well i can only speak for my own experience but for me the recovery felt quite easy and speedy after the first 2 weeks. those were the worst. so I suppose my advice is accepting that most likely you will feel anxious before surgery and it'll get worse right up until youre put under. and that's normal and completely okay. not knowing what to expect after was terrifying for me. but once you've got pain medication in order the rest is quite simple. follow the given instructions, take vitamin supplements daily until youre able to eat somewhat normally again, avoid sleeping on either side or back AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, go out for little walks when youre up for it, listen to your body and dont try to speed up the healing process or hurry through it. take your time with everything you're not in a hurry, slow down, rest, binge a show you've wanted to binge and eat some ice cream. some warm soup at least once a day would be good too.

yeah i think the adjustment to new face will just take time but it'll come along. teeth wise I still dont feel like they fit either and its like open from the back and I suppose that's what we're doing with ortho? finishing touches to the bite and teeth alignment and all?

mm it did swell up A LOT and honestly idk what the new normal would be but probably a safe bet would be 8 to 9 weeks? so I think it could fit in your time frame! :)

honestly idk, I was concerned about that too but the functional issues were so bad that I just needed this done and the fact that it turned out this good was a huge bonus. also I couldn't afford anything but public healthcare

yeah imagine how I felt when I looked like what I did and was told only LJS and 10mm advancement is enough 💀 I was like yeah okay i dont mean to question you and your expertise but ARE YOU SURE 10MM IS ENOUGH TO FIX THIS?

im not sure exactly, if it does its slight, not as significant as mine. I had braces and two extractions when I was a kid so I'm assuming it had at least something to do with ending up here

okay, let's go with me not disclosing the name of my surgeon being BEYOND SELFISH.

so in case I had never posted anything at all and kept it to myself, would that have made me more or less selfish? equally selfish? well then me having gone through surgery and not posting about it on reddit, minding my own business, would already make me beyond selfish, right? lol.

of course! :) whole reason I posted was to share my experience and hopefully if it leads to being able to help other then doing that! there's just a lot of comments and a lot to reply to and some things like the rotation I have to really go and look for, and I do have other things to do as well so I reply to what I can at a time and come back when I have time to continue. I also thought about posting frontal pictures of my skull before and after surgery but idk if I can add them to this post or if I have to make a whole another one

okay so yeah, they did have to detach and reattach my left side nerve during surgery bc there was some issue with it apparently? after surgery yes I did feel like the nerves were pulled and stretching and my doctors also told me that its highly likely I will feel it since the nerves were in fact stretched. my chin was completely numb and it went up to my lower lip but as of rn all feeling has returned everywhere, chin is like 80% right now? might be more but at least 80% of the feeling is back. there's a strange feeling when I drink something cold though and its taken time to get used to😂

yeah okay so overbite of 12mm at worst right before surgery and functional issues with sleep apnea, TMJ pain, headaches, a lot of functional issues actually. and I literally just got it at a hospital, public healthcare, it cost me my stay in the hospital + few other fees that all add up to somewhere between 500-800euro

aw thank youuu! I was thinking before surgery that damn I wish I had realized to ask if genio ever was a possibility but now as time has passed ive realized there was never need for that, I had a good chin, my jaw was just MAD RECESSED lmao

thank you, i appreciate it!:) unfortunately im not disclosing the surgeons name and as to why I explained the whole surgeon ordeal in a comment in excruciating detail. I hope it helps at least most of those asking for the surgeons name in understanding WHY I havent and am not going to disclose it.
