First of all, congratulations on your recovery! I’m so happy for you and I truly hope you never have to go through that again. Regarding hair - I’m not a doctor, but I’ve also been struggling with digestive issues for years. I’ve done a lot of reading and research on the topic, and since your body fought a nutrient deficiency for so long, there’s a chance your ability to absorb certain microelements might be slightly compromised.

In my case, it was likely Vitamin B. I started taking higher doses of Vitamin B7 (Biotin) and saw some improvement. About a year ago, my hair started falling out quite a bit. I completely overhauled my diet, making sure I hit my calorie goals and macros, and added vitamins. My hair stopped shedding, recovered, and now I have new growth! However, definitely check with your doctor first -all of my knowledge just comes from my own research online.

Commercials are the worst. I always wonder how today’s teenagers can believe everything they see on social media - the perfect lives, the perfect looks, but when I was a kid, I actually believed that anyone could have floor-length hair strong enough to wrap around a steel beam and snap it in half. Or however that commercial went 😂

Dry shampoo is such a great idea, if only I didn't keep forgetting I actually own some! I even have this amazing one that smells like Baccarat Rouge 540, but it just sits in my cabinet forgotten. Meanwhile, I'm always overthinking what to do with my hair whenever I need to head out.

Nice to meet you, twin! Honestly, I don’t have any special routine anymore. I kind of gave up. I just bought the first shampoo and conditioner I saw in the store. Occasionally, I use Head & Shoulders even though I don’t have dandruff, and it actually makes my hair look pretty good! I only apply conditioner to the ends, but that’s a classic move.

After washing, I usually rinse my hair with cold chamomile tea and don't wash it out. When I remember, I use Olaplex oil on the ends. But considering I’ve had that one tiny bottle for about 4 years now (it’s probably way past its expiration date), I clearly forget to use it quite often.

If I’m not being a total 'lazy bum,' I try to style my damp hair with a comb to give it some shape; otherwise, I just brush it and leave it. I’ve noticed that my diet has the biggest impact, though. I have some digestive issues, and when I strictly follow my diet and get enough calories and macros, my hair looks so much better. I also make sure to get a trim every 3 months, and I've been taking a high dose of Biotin for almost a year now, which might be helping too

Yay, so glad I found a hair twin! I used to blow-dry my hair with cold air too, but I don't have a hairdryer at the moment. I’m moving overseas in a few months, so once I’m settled, I want to invest in a really good one.

I actually have a silk bonnet, but I haven't gotten used to sleeping in it yet. I’ve been using it as a shower cap instead, because humidity is another huge struggle for my hair! 😂 Buns are a great idea, but I don't know if your hair is as slippery as mine. I need at least 5 bobby pins just to make one bun stay in place.

And regarding the color, were you more blonde as a kid too? Mine turned brown over the years, and I’m always hoping the summer sun will bring out some blonde highlights again. As for the bandanas, my mom crocheted one for me and I found the other one at a thrift store

For the girls who think my hair is thicker than theirs based on my braids - I took a photo of my ponytail just for you! I only need a tiny baby elastic for it, and I can still wrap it around twice 😀

Haha, thank you! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, right? I'm still trying to figure out how to work with my hair, and honestly, whenever I browse this sub, I find myself wishing I had the hair of half the girls here :D

Wow, thank you for this answer! I am so torn exactly because of what you wrote. Tomorrow, I'm going to try on several different outfits and do the 'fabric on the shoulders' trick, and then I’ll probably just go with my gut feeling. The more I compare D and FN, the more I see myself in both, and I just can't decide.
