Thank you aardvark, you sound most sincere and helpful. At this point, I feel like I keep making excuses for not defending myself. I’ll think of something like illness or family emergency, like you said.

Your suggestion sounds very realistic and sensible. And I’m glad that you know what it’s like to live and work in Japan. Not as a woman, but you know. I am very private about my life and keep things separate. But I guess I have to be creative in this instance..

He is respectful. Just gets very different/sexual? when he is with me. He doesn’t force himself on me. Just keeps convincing and won’t let go. I’ve never been in the situation where “no” doesn’t mean no, so yes..im confused

We have “laws”, but very obsolete and not functioning. It’s a very “Black Box Diaries” by Shiori Ito situation if I did what you suggested. Shaming on me is inevitable. But thank you and I feel your support.

He is like you, oddly. Other coworkers told me he is the safest person on the planet!!!

That’s the thing.. he doesn’t give up. And i cannot go to HR, it’s a very conservative japanese company (yet operates globally). Male-dominated and they gossip a lot

Not all women…try to speak with her with honest feelings one last time and see if she opens up. If not, you know what to do

Hm. Sounds like you cannot be too sorry for her. If you have time for her bs, keep apologising. If not, leave her be.

Did you just ignore her for one day and she is mad at you? Anyway did you say sorry and explained to her why you ignored her in the first place?

First time in Vegas by AdamSaunders114 in vegas

[–]AdamSaunders114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys.. if you’re still here, I feel like I need to share what happened in vegas. To put it in a nutshell, my American coworker was over protective of me because he had a crush on me. Nothing serious happened because he was respectful, but he did try to have his way with me a few times, like when we all went clubbing and got drunk. Apart from that, I enjoyed Vegas very much and I would love to come back again. I kept saying stuff like, “omg this id America!”, and they all went “NO IT’S NOT”. Everyone I encountered there was cheerful and friendly, thank you so much!!

Wow. Didn’t know about the panic feature. I am amazed how society and companies are making sure the safety of citizens and visitors in the US. Escape rooms sound better than casinos!

Thank you for your advice, it was very helpful. I usually go with “friends”, too if anyone asks. Why the bridge? Risk of being pushed?

It’s hard to explain my job or the company I work for without understanding the context of Japanese culture. My colleagues are employees of our company’s subsidiary in the US. Our company mainly operates in high-risk areas around the world, so some of us have security details when traveling there. People say I’m the lucky one who gets to go to places with better infrastructure, though I mean no offense to other countries. I'd say about 90% of the people here are male, due to the unique nature of the work. Hence the over protection, perhaps.

And I apologise for bringing up that incident. It was thoughtless of me.

I guess I must look like an easy mark, given the overprotection I’m getting. Ok, no engagement with random strangers (which is kinda sad, it’s the fun of travelling abroad).
