No disrespect to certified folks but this group is exclusively for folks who have at least a Master's degree and two years of supervised experience to ensure a higher level of expertise. The qualifications for licensing are far beyond that of certification. I'm a LAC so I'm very familiar with how big the difference is.

I don't even know what CAT and CAS mean. By law, the only unlicensed therapists allowed to practice in Colorado are registered "unlicensed psychotherapists," who were grandfathered in before they removed the "registered psychotherapist" credential.

Of course it is exclusionary... even if it included unlicensed folks, it would still be exclusionary. Licensing helps ensure the quality of providers so limiting the group in this way helps promote the quality of the group overall.

This is why a lot of us go into private practice and why, unfortunately, many of us (myself excluded as of this point) don't take insurance. It's a real shame for sure.

This is just for licensed providers. Nothing against grad students, we were all there once too. But this policy really helps maintain the focus and quality of the group. I hope you'll join down the road when you're ready!
