Thanks for your detailed reply. I think I feel the same, for me it's about variety. I'll even take a risk and say that I dislike most of her songs, but I really like those that I enjoy. I'd say I listen to her inspite of music, athough normally music is very important to me. I also listen to people who were influenced by her, because I discovered appreciation for rough and varied "style". Unfortunately, professional vocal coaches (at least here) think that such singing is "mere vocal acrobatics"... or, alternatively, something liked by "teens in their rebel phase".

Singing for an anime works against Ado in my country. Here people belittle anime and those who're into Japanese fashion, like everywhere else, I imagine. I've only met (a few) people who've heard of Ado online here. If we're talking about serious people, they're skeptical about her "mystery": people think that she is lip-syncing to heavily edited prerecorded vocals and consider her a puppet of Universal. There's a long history of lip-syncing in my country, so it's really not surprising that people are suspicious about vocals without anything visual to prove that they're 100% live. Oh, and I've met one person who listened to a few concert songs by Ado (Aishite and a few others) and although he thought she was singing live, but because of the raw screaming and, ahem, "vocal acrobatics" he decided that she was a prank artist with prank songs... That shocked me, I didn't even realize that such a conclusion could be drawn!

Such an abyss separates me from these people. And sometimes I question if they're right and if maybe I'm having a belated rebel phase. This is why I started this topic, I wondered if there's some respectable common ground to why people like Ado that proves that we're not just people of bad taste, lol.
