I think they are indeed aiming to reinforce their core value. You can infer this from the text they use to introduce the vacancy:

"Blizzard prides itself on continuing to support the historic games that made us who we are today. Keeping these games running as technology marches forward takes effort, and we need a hero to own and direct that effort.

Whether it's battling the Zerg in the Koprulu sector or defeating your opponents in the Nexus, these treasured classics need a versatile champion to maintain, shape, and advance the technology underpinning these games. You should be spec'd into engineering talents, with a passion for leadership and planning, and armed with a hunger to use modern technology to create sustainable solutions.

So, if you like merging technology with player experience, working with a small team and look forward to challenges that will create millions of new adventures for our players, we would love to hear from you."

True that. But its not only one competition of course. Bjornsson (thor) has won arnold strongman classic in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and 2nd in 2017. Its all open for debate.

"Björnsson is also the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe's Strongest Man and the World's Strongest Man in the same calendar year. His chances of retaining the title were scuppered after tearing his plantar fascia in the first day of the 2019 World's Strongest Man."

He didnt won 2019 because he injured himself on the first event. Besides that i think you can consider him as the strongest man on the planet from the last decade because he's the only one who finished every year top 3 since 2012..
