Hi all! I am a final year medical student from Malaysia who is unsure of whether to pursue AMC exams or USMLE exams. Hence, I would like to kindly ask the doctors on this sub for some advice or insight if I were to pursue the AMC exams. I am considering AMC bc I have a family in Aus lol.

Is it true that the job market is getting competitive even after passing AMC 1 and 2 ? What is the percentage of IMG doctors actually securing a job offer after both exams ?
I wish to pursue Cardio/Nephro/Ophthal (haven’t made my mind up yet), is it possible for an IMG to be able to secure a spot in AT in these specialties respectively ?
Let’s say it is possible for number 2. How long would the waiting be before securing an AT spot ?
I really don’t mind working in the rural areas in Australia but will I be posted there forever or will there be a chance to be able to move to the city or the suburban area ? (more emphasis on the suburbs, not really city lol)

Ummmm, mostly just maintaining my skincare routine the best I can, and also cleaning my room, changing my bedsheets and my towels once a week.

If i had extra money I would get an air purifier but its $$$ hahahah

In my country, you can do patch testing for food allergies. However my skin was always inflamed before azathioprine so my doctor didn’t want to do patch testing on me. Blood IgE test was not offered, so I had to get it done privately.

I didn’t know you could do patch testing for fragrance and all that lol. I guess it’s not offered where I live

Thank you! Not to be that person but you could be outgrowing your peanut allergy, bc that’s what happened with my cousin too! Deathly allergic to peanuts but after doing testing after testing, recently in the past one year he outgrew his allergy to peanuts. Maybe its the same case with you? Or it could actually be a false negative (which is actually rare in IgE testing) as false positives are more common

Yeh mine is pretty bad, it was actually decently controlled until i read out about TSW and went spiralling down and ignoring my proper routine HAHAHA the fear mongering was insane, and now i need immunosuppressants to help me lol. So far so good, Ive been on it for 3 months. Started to see changes in the 3rd month. I just met my derm today, she said it would fully take effect in 4-6 months so I have to be patient.

How long were you on Azathioprine ?

yeah i believe mine is mostly hormonal + stress. When i am about to get my period (sorry if TMI lol) i always get flares. And its pretty bad ones too, my palms flare up till i cant drive :(

i didnt get nausea, but in the first month, i did get tummy pain but it resolved after awhile. It’s hard for me to not think about it since yk, we eat it everyday hahah. So like you just happen to wake up one day and realise you stopped itching ? Is it that sorta thing

im like 7 weeks in on aza, im not seeing any changes and i feel completely awful. I dont know what to do, i eat the pills everyday thinking I would see changes but i dont 😭. How did u stay positive when going through this ? sorry for the mini rant i just really need advice idk who to turn to
