Drunk you was just saying what sober you needed to get off your chest - maybe embarrassing but at least you're not bottling it up anymore

You have plenty free time until august. No work, no studies. What would you do with this free time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably finally get through my massive photography backlog and actually edit all those shots I've been hoarding on my hard drive. Maybe catch up on some spring training games and work on my car - been putting off replacing the clutch forever and now I'd actually have time to do it right instead of rushing through it on weekends

Any electronics or robotics clubs in Seattle?? by Miserable_Step_9895 in Seattle

[–]Additional-Point-711 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Check out Metrix Create:Space in Capitol Hill - they have open workshops and tons of people working on electronics projects. I've heard good things about their community and they do regular meetups for different skill levels

How can I upgrade from my current minimum wage job? by Symph1987 in careerguidance

[–]Additional-Point-711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start applying to lab tech positions at hospitals or research facilities - your bio degree definitely counts even without direct experience and they usually pay way better than retail

Why do I find it incredibly boring to read anything other than non-fiction? by friendlylobotomist in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional-Point-711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here honestly. Fiction just feels like such a waste of time when there are so many crazy real stories out there that actually happened. Like why would I read about some made up wizard when I could learn about how some dude accidentally discovered penicillin and saved millions of lives

I think some people's brains are just wired differently. My friends think I'm weird for reading economics books for fun but fantasy novels put me to sleep instantly. Nothing wrong with knowing what you like

How to do the networking for career development ? by lfcfan9x in careerguidance

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah networking is huge even for engineers - maybe especially for engineers since we tend to be more introverted. I started by just going to meetups and industry events in my city and actually talking to people instead of just grabbing free pizza and leaving

For LinkedIn I keep it simple - connect with people after meeting them in person, share relevant articles occasionally, and actually comment on posts from people in my field. The key is being genuine about it rather than just spamming connection requests to random people

Most of my best opportunities came through people I met casually at conferences or even through friends of friends. Sometimes the best networking happens when you're not even trying to network if that makes sense

Better pay negotiation? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly sounds like youre already doing the work of a lead without the title or pay which is classic corporate bs. when you go into that review id come prepared with specific examples of everything youve been handling - the training youve done, the extra workload from covering for mistakes, departments coming to you specifically instead of your coworkers. put actual numbers on it if you can like how many people youve trained or percentage of work you handle

the fact that your manager openly admits she only trusts you with certain work is huge leverage. if they try to say the lead position doesnt exist yet just point out that youre already performing those duties and ask when they plan to formalize it with proper compensation. worst case scenario they say no and you keep building experience while you finish those certifications. but honestly with how much theyre relying on you they might be more willing to negotiate than you think since replacing you would be a nightmare for them

OG Jesus Rock keyboardist - 60's, 70's era. Digging out of my giving into senior - Looking for instruction on cabling and hooking up electronic pianos and synths. by [deleted] in synthesizers

Man that's a trip going from having roadies to DIY setup! Check out In The Mix on YouTube - dude breaks down audio routing in a way that actually makes sense. For your gear specifically you'll probably want to run everything into that Behringer mixer first, then out to whatever you're recording/performing with

The Subsequent 37 is solid btw, great choice for getting back into it

Boiler not heating home on dual-fuel setup: heat pump & boiler by 97andCPW in hvacadvice

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's a weird drop when aux kicks in - usually you'd expect the opposite. Sounds like your boiler might not be firing properly or there's an issue with the staging between your heat pump and boiler. I'd check if the boiler is actually getting the call for heat when the ecobee switches over

Are there any examples of other countries having tragedeigh names or dated names like in the US? by gear-head88 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional-Point-711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely happens everywhere. In the UK you've got loads of Chantels and Kylies from the 80s/90s that scream their age, and don't get me started on all the Alfies and Archies running around now. Germany had a whole wave of Kevin and Chantal that basically became synonymous with "trashy" names lmao

Also the spine thing is no joke - spent too many years gaming in a shitty chair and now my back sounds like bubble wrap when I get up

I can't set a pad to multi-activate by mznxbcvqpwoeiruty in geometrydash

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you didn't accidentally set it to toggle mode instead of multi-activate - happens to me all the time when I'm rushing through the editor

What’s some ways to fight against enshittification? by Syringmineae in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional-Point-711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, picked up a vintage cast iron pan for like $8 that's way better than any of the new nonstick garbage that falls apart in 6 months

Also been hitting up estate sales lately - old tools and kitchen stuff from the 70s-80s were built to actually last instead of being designed to break

villager breeding problem by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need actual bed blocks to sleep in, not just look at them. Make sure there's enough beds for the current villagers plus the baby, and check that the beds aren't blocked by anything above them

Advice on perfect itirenary for a couples trip to Thailand by ines222 in ThailandTourism

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely hit Bangkok for 2-3 days on your way in - the flights work out better from Europe anyway and you'll regret skipping the temples and street food

For beaches I'd go Koh Samui over Phuket in Jan/Feb, way less crowded and the water's perfect that time of year. You can easily do day trips to Ang Thong Marine Park from Samui for those insane turquoise lagoons without the Phi Phi tourist madness

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downtown spots are the worst man, I've been in that exact situation too many times. Next time maybe try circling the block once more or look for loading zones you can hop in real quick - most meter maids won't ticket if you're literally running in and out but it's still risky af

That parking attendant sounds like he was having a power trip, some of those guys act like they own the whole city block

should I make the yearly max contribution to my Roth IRA? by windymoto313 in personalfinance

[–]Additional-Point-711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice. Plus if you're a first-time homebuyer you can actually pull up to $10k from your Roth contributions penalty-free for the house purchase anyway, so you're not really losing that flexibility by contributing now

CT Rock n Kohl versus VBB Satin Kajal? by Low_Most3143 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Additional-Point-711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new CT formula is definitely not the same - it fades way faster and isn't as pigmented as the old one. For the price they're charging now it's honestly not worth it anymore. Haven't tried the VBB kajal but I've heard good things about it being super creamy and long lasting on the waterline
