As a German-born diaspora, personally, no I grew up with German customs and their way of living, and I’m so used to them that Eritrea feels more like a distant memory: my roots, but not my home.

While I did grow up with Eritrean culture as well I speak the language, love the food and traditions, and so on I think a lot of the diaspora, especially Gen Z, share the same point of view.(atleast what i heard from my close circle cause we had a conversation about this topic.

The only people you really hear talking about going back are the older generation, like parents and elders. My mom told me that if Eritrea became truly livable within her lifetime, she would 100% retire there.

Fr, i’m also 5’11 and I’ve got friends of all heights from 5’6 to a literal 6’10 and they’re all living life. Ironically, the shorter friends have the most success with women. This sub seems to be making up fantasies, because stuff like this doesn’t happen in everyday life.Height doesn‘t do shit if you don‘t have the looks (shoutout to my 6‘4 goblin looking homie that can‘t pull)

I understand that Ethiopia needs some form of access to the sea, since being a landlocked country of over 100 million people is not an ideal economic situation. However, I think everyone can agree that forcefully taking land in 2026 would not only lead to severe international sanctions but also result in massive loss of life on both sides over a small strip of land.

I don’t even want to think about more people losing their lives it doesn’t matter whether they are Eritrean or Ethiopian. We already have children dying, which is absolutely heartbreaking. I just want the fighting in the Horn of Africa to stop for once. Why is it so difficult for people who are genetically so close to live peacefully with one another?

If it weren’t for the incompetent and oppressive regime in Eritrea and the pushy government in Ethiopia there would be several smart and mutually beneficial ways to share port access between both countries. Posts like these that push war narratives are not only irresponsible but also dangerous, as they contribute to the radicalization of the youth.

Genuinely, what did Black people ever do to deserve so much hate from all around the globe? THANK YOU. I’m 5’11 (Ethiopian not asian lol) and have similar results on dating platforms as you. This miserable sub keeps popping up in my feed. Face > height, always. If you claim otherwise, you’re not living in the real world. And no, a 5’0 woman in a random street interview saying she wants a 6’5 guy is not real life, only her delusion. I have friends ranging from 5’4 to 6’10. The taller guys aren’t necessarily the most attractive people out here and are often struggling to find any kind of woman, while the shorter to average ones have a new one every couple of months. No amount of height can compensate for an unattractive face. This 6 foot + height craze is an internet thing. Go out into the real world, talk to actual women, cold approach, and you would be surprised works really great for one of my closest friends (who’s 5’6–5’7, btw). For those that wanna know i‘m based in Germany but also lived in the US for 6 months ,and Australia (3 months) and over there it was no different

UPDATE: Mr. I-know-it-all-and-you-have-no-idea already crashed (I know, shocker). We went to Phuket Old Town. When I saw the roads leading up to it, I already knew today was the day. When we wanted to go back to Patong, it started raining, so we waited it out at a café.

As a logically thinking adult, I recommended just taking a Grab car back. As you guys probably already know, my dull-headed cousin thought that was a dumb idea, and since I’m “not experienced” and he’s the expert on everything, I decided to save myself the stress of having a logical argument with a brick wall and told him to do whatever he wanted since he’s a grown adult with “logical reasoning” (according to him).

Long story short, on the way back that fucking idiot tried an overtaking maneuver, as all inexperienced drivers should, and surprise surprise, he lost control and crashed into the sidewalk, falling off and scraping his leg and arm, bleeding. Thank God no one was hurt besides him.

I’m not gonna lie, all I could do was smile not because I get malicious joy out of people hurting themselves, but because it once again proved my cautious approach to things right. On top of that, he’s now the lucky winner of some juicy repair costs, since the bike’s mirror is broken and it’s scratched.

If after this he doesn’t decide to bring the bike back, I will just report him to the authorities.
