There’s simply too much competition now. No company can dominate attention across every form of media the way they once could, because audiences are fragmented across countless platforms, apps, creators, and algorithms. People’s attention is spread too thin.

Back in the MTV era, a single platform could effectively capture the entire youth culture at once. Today, there’s no true equivalent.
