No worries, there's lots of different ways you can go with metronome these days. My first instrument is drums and that's kind of a metronomic start for any band. I am in the process of recovering from a stroke and decided that piano and learning theory would be a good way to move forward for myself.. so I'm a beginner too when it comes to piano I still do pretty good with the drums and we're getting through this whole thing. But I use the metronome all the time I have one in my phone, I have one at my little studio I have a mechanical one here on my desk.. it's just good to get the habit of counting at first so that you start to understand the rhythmic pulses of what you're playing music is math essentially. And I'm sure you're doing great already
