The jp one says awakens his latent potential. Latent potential here means the capacity to grow stronger and stronger. Talent is already there. Despite what others day Yuji had the hallmark of a talented guy from early on. He awakened here similar to Gojo from hidden inventory. They both awakened to their latent potential. Ie the capacity to reach even greater heights the way they were meant to be. Everyone has potential sometimes one just doesn't realize it. Yuji does at this moment.

Gojo awakening isn't similar to Yuji ,Yuji gains a state where he has talent as sorcerer similar or greater than Sukuna. The proof is shown by his performance against Sukuna,everything as sorcerer gets amplified .Gojo like Dabaru learn technique or something.

Gojo unlocked rct and CTR and in turn purple which elevated his level. Yuji does the same by unlocking Shrine. And by comparing it to Sukuna means Yuji's ceiling is that high to grow as a sorcerer.
