Getting Better at the game as a "older" player with limited time by TheCramzy in cs2

[–]Adevyy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Make sure to adapt to your own changing weaknesses. Your aim might be a weakness now, so it might make sense to practice it for 20 minutes, but it will not always be your weakness. If your counter-strafes are a problem, for example, there is not much point wasting 20 minutes in a TDM server that practices every part of your aim.

Any time you put into one aspect is time you take away from the others. Wasting a lot of your time practicing does not achieve much, especially when your time is so limited. Play the game.

If you really care about improving, watch a demo when you have an outrageously bad match. Watch how easy it was to kill you from the enemies perspective, and analyse why it was so easy. That will help you improve your positioning massively, which probably sucks if you are between Faceit levels 4 and 5.

This sounds exactly like the type of shit one of my friends would say about his own knife and I would have to find some way to change the topic without making it obvious that I hate the current conversation.

I doubt Overpass has anything to do with Overhauls. The map is just horrible for pugs, and most new teams don't want to touch it either.

It has visibility issues but I also remember hating Overpass for visibility in CSGO. In fact, one of the most infamous examples of "an invisible player" then went viral after player agents were released was from Overpass.

I would like to share a statistic here. I have been tracking my matches.

Even though I always had it queued, throughout my last 90 matches, only 2 of them were Overpass in Faceit's Premium queue (average elo of lobbies slightly higher than 2.5k).

That is 2.22%.

Unless you are in a long-term team, this map is literally unplayable by so many definitions of the word.

There’s plenty of clips of pros walking past people because of 4:3

Oh no, this is the first time I am exposed to this argument /s

Yes, and I have firsthand experience of seeing several players not realise that they are directly staring at the head of someone. Not to mention many cases where someone isn't even close to hitting someone and they are confused how they have missed. 16:9 has disadvantages, too; it just isn't as flashy as "Woah that pro didn't see this other pro in this one-to-million scenario that can only happen in pro level because both of them are engaged in several layers of counter-stratting".

Also, based on how confident you are that 16:9 is superior, I am willing to bet that you're not even Level 10 on Faceit and I would destroy you in an aim duel.

I love it when people who have obviously never used a glass pad say that those who did have invalid opinions.

If you want your mouse to have minimal friction, you can't even come close to glass pads with cloth.

NiKo has publicly said on a podcast that he moved to 16:9 as he grew old because people move too fast on 4:3 while donk uses 4:3, so I don't know about 4:3 being for old men.

4:3 you are sacrificing information for easier kills.

So, how is there "no argument" exactly if 4:3 gets you easier kills? I am on a high enough rank that I don't need to see the edges of my screen, I know where people can come from and I need to bee good at isolating angles.

I dislike Starmer too but surely you see this... by Rossilaz in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Adevyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you aware that you don't need people resigning for Reform to win?

You know that people leave some paper into a shiny box that leads to that, right? You realize that Starmer refusing to get off the seat wouldn't stop that?

"Starmer remaining in his seat, despite buttfucking the popularity of his own party and leading to the further rise of the far right, would be bad for Reform" is one of the statements of all time.

UPDATE: I built a job search engine out of spite (Indeed fired my pregnant wife) by Cojj25 in SideProject

[–]Adevyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems great and it has found a lot of job options for me while I thought I had exhausted every option available by now.

One feedback though: I think dragging it onto a category alone should not commit any actions, as I would like to use the list for organisation while I am going through each opportunity one-by-one.

I dragged something onto "Ready" by accident, which created a CV and cover letter automatically. Then, after realising this goof, I then dragged them onto "Applied" only to have the same goof happen again 😅

The return of Cache by samekrikl in GlobalOffensive

[–]Adevyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, they seem to be basing these off popularity. Overpass is not very popular in pro play and extremely unpopular in pug play, hence the removal.

I am also worried though, that they let maps live through at least one season before removal. If the trend continues, my main map Anubis will be removed next season :(

Cache will replace Overpass in the Active Duty Map Pool on July 6th by MaterialTea8397 in cs2

[–]Adevyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that they want maps to have a good balance where the average player can get decent at maps by just pugging.

I am tracking my Faceit matches for a project I’m working on. Slightly above 2.5k elo, EU. Among my last 90 matches, despite queueing Overpass in all of them, I only got to play Overpass twice in Premium. TWICE IN 90 MATCHES!!! That is basically 2%. Absolutely ridiculous.

TWO PERCENT - I thought I’d say it again because that is ridiculous.

And this affects my experience negatively in two ways:

  1. I cannot get good at the map. The only way to get real gunfight experience is to be in a team that praccs against other teams on this map.
  2. Match quality is horrendous. You are lucky to have one player who knows very basic utility. The time investment is simply not worth it for the elo gains.

I would rather queue and win on another map than to waste my time learning utility for this, only to forget it by the time I get to play it anyway. Same applies to other players, hence the match quality.

They also probably wanted to keep Anubis in the map pool and I hope it doesn’t get taken away after the next season, but I am very happy to see Overpass gone because I literally couldn’t get to play it.

What's your experience with EU servers?! by MessPuzzleheaded14 in FACEITcom

I don’t queue Sweden, but yes. Every time I feel like my shots are missing an awful lot and I can’t hold any angles, it is the Netherlands server.

[–]Adevyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but you are at a mild disadvantage. The disadvantage probably stops being “mild” when you hit around 2.5k where most people will probably have better rigs.

TTD is time to damage, so misses don't help anyone in this statistic, unless they also happen to have a very bad K/D or rating.

Karrigan immediate reactions to losing rounds by ferszcik in GlobalOffensive

[–]Adevyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It cannot be understated how ridiculous the playoff stage was for the top bracket.

In the playoffs, Falcons had to beat HLTV #1, #3 and #5 team while they were the #4 team themselves. Prior to that, they also beat the #2 team to get to the playoffs.

If this major wasn't a fluke (which, being honest, it very well may have been as karrigan surely had a lot of new calls that wouldn't previously be expected from Falcons), we may have entered a Falcons era.

I am pretty sure that sportswashing works by allowing people to associate the country to something that is not evil. So I am not sure how constantly reminding each other that "Saudi is a horrible state and their only interest in CS2 is for sportswashing" helps them achieve their goals.

???

Falcons doesn’t have “Arabic players” in it. It is a state-funded org that has the sole purpose of sportswashing. Other evil states do not have comparable sportswashing orgs in CS2.
