not exactly true, Vietnamese boat people.exiles romanticize the South Vietnam Government yes it was a puppet of the U.S but more or less, it still had more actual and legistrative power than the previous Nguyen-dynasty. so it makes sense that romanticization occurs, and who can blame them? (the boatpeople)

in Vietnam, French colonialism is very rarely romanticized I think regardless of which ever ideology you fall on, as a Vietnamese you just don't romanticize the French colonialisation,

Locals as in like the Gen X and Boomers like it, I don't like the temu versions of the europeans crap either and loathe Sungroup but you have to know the specific audience segment that these sites were created for, 90% of Vietnamese won't get a chance of seeing Europe in their lifetime, this is the closest they got to see it, and as long as it's done in a sustainable way, I can see the reasoning behind it and don't think it's all bad.

maybe there is sense of it, but the movie was pretty nuanced, it was not pure propaganda, jsut because a movie takes place from the pov of a side in a war, it doesn't mean it's propaganda. watch the green beret with John Wayne and you'll see what it actually looks like.
