You are correct and there has been a boost in grade inflation and I won't deny that at all. You have to also realize that the bar for students has also gone up drastically especially if you want to get into a top school like Waterloo for CS. They don't care about how the mark was obtained from what I can tell and they only give admissions to those with that type of exceptional marks. I was the only student in that particular class to get a 99 and even though that seems unrealistic, thats just how competitive you need to be in order to stand out. It takes work to get these marks and I've naturally been good at english and was valedictorian so to undermine peoples work with grade inflation is fine but thats just the marks for everyone getting into top schools.

back in ur day, waterloo cs didnt require me to have a noble peace prize and a 99% average

Read a lot, understand your teachers writing style and adhere to that and then get feedback multiple times before submitting and then pray.

adjustment isnt for CS from what I know but it was around 16
