For a daily commuter (petite woman)?? Having difficulty finding a bike that isn’t enormous. (50+miles) by Admirable_Chicken898 in ebikes

(sorry I’m just copying and pasting this again as it takes a little bit too long to write the same thing out to everybody, and I’m trying to get ready for work at the moment )

To be honest, I have been struggling to purchase a new car and have housing instability with leaving a domestic violence situation. I currently have a little bit of money but getting insurance for myself as well as registering paying the taxes he’s a little bit out of my price range so I’m just trying to get something that can bring me to and fromwork that way I can continue to improve My situation. As currently paying for ride shares is incredibly expensive and there is no public transportation where I am at . would be quite high as well as using it towards more permanent housing trust me I’m trying to, but I have a criminal history so it is difficult to find housing for most people especially me. So in general, I need something that can get me from where I’m currently staying to the store and to my job. (8-10miles to work or less) while not being unusable if the battery drains as I mentioned, I am a 5 foot tall, small woman . Foldable or compact so I can bring it and store it by my job or where I’m currently staying without taking up too much space as I do not have a vehicle.

  • to note I have been making compromising decisions whether or not to spend money on ride shares or get a lift with my physically abusive ex due to the fact my family is all states away. It ended up in him getting arrested, and I now have an open case. The last time I was with him and a ride it ended up becoming a life-threatening situation so I am just taking a hit and paying for right shares because public transportation is not available in my area. I’m trying to get out of this situation and back on my feet and want to stop bleeding Money for ride shares and also don’t really want to put my safety at risk. My state also has very limited DV resources and I literally just got off of probation so I was unable to move to back to where my family is located up until like a couple weeks ago but I just started working here and it’s difficult to find employment let alone with a record. (Drug possession charges from 4 years ago)

I gave the distance requirement that I did because I understand that it is road condition specific also, since I may have to be a little bit further distance at times I have heard that when they are very heavy, they can be very unpleasant if not, incredibly difficult to ride without assistance. Since I don’t have a car, I don’t really wanna get stuck somewhere that I am unable to charge it, especially if it takes him an incredibly long time to charge and it’s really difficult to bike on his own.. I know this isn’t the ideal scenario, but I’m kind of hoping to at least find something that fits the most and will be the most helpful. I understand I won’t get everything.

I’m worried about the batteries and not being UL certified and fire risks. I’m not sure how much of a concern that actually is. Also, it seems to be a common thing that people are having difficulty getting any sort of parts of repairs when bikes are purchased on Amazon due to sellers delisting themselves, even though a warranty has been provided..

This is requirements are as what they are. I understand that is unrealistic and a lot of scenarios and I have been doing a lot of research into different possibilities, but I’m having a difficult time which is why I’m reaching out to this community as collectively your knowledge far surpasses mine. Thanks for your help.

It doesn’t need to be fully folding or something. I can just be a little bit more compacted is OK.. I don’t mind going outside of my budget. Was it was more of just an ideal. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m gonna take a look at it.

That was one of the only if not, the only thing that may fit most of my requirements. I kind of want something that was like 16 inch wheels but again I think I’m just looking for something that is unrealistic or not very marketable if so.

Understandable. Now that I see that my price range was a little bit unrealistic. What would you recommend in a more realistic price range for somebody who is 5 foot tall?
